  1. Hi guys, I have a Li-on lithium battery for my Cyclamatic e-bike that seems to be playing up. I need some advise but, as I’m new to this forum, not sure if this is the correct thread to post my query on. Would it be OK to discuss here?
  2. Hi, I have an four year old battery that has started cutting out whilst going up hills. It only works if I turn the key to off then on again. Its been fully charged up before I set out so there should be plenty of juice in it. Just in case this was an indication that the battery was nearing the end of its life, I went ahead and bought a new one and this has been charging up for at least three hours and the small LED has still not turned green (does it normally take this long to charge up a new battery? I thought they came fully charged).
  3. Can anyone help with a cyclamatic battery pack? Have lost the two screws securing the battery switch to the case. Can anyone tell me the size of threads for these? Thanks PJK

Hi d8veh, have had the battery apart and done what you suggested with the BMS and also checked the voltage (29.3 approx) then re-assembled and tried the bike again, but it still doesnt work. Any further ideas? Charger is showing green when attached to battery, but battery c;early not fully charged, or indeed, charged at all. Is there someone called Ping that does something with/to batteries?
  5. Can you send a blow by blow account of how to open up a battery? Many thanks.
  6. Thanks for this. Sorry for the delay in replying. Find navigating around the forum confusing. Will try what has been recommended and get back.
  7. I've had my battery on charge, on and off, all day and it's still registering nothing. its about two years old and not had heavy use. I always recharge after I've used it but have laft it standing for some months (since last Autumn) without a recharge every couple of months?(as recommended by the manufacturer on the side of the case - which I have only just read!). If its dead, is there a way to open up the case and replace the batteries inside? I'm sure I read something on Pedelecs a couple of years ago about that.

That link takes me to one that costs $169 and postage of $91, so I'm not sure where your figures are coming from. However, I have now left a message on the website re; payment methods and refund policy etc. Will let you know if I am successful finding the right battery at the right price. many thanks.

Thank you flecc. I am making some more enquiries on the website.

Thank you flecc, I have measured my battery against the ones advertised and they are different - only by 10/20 mm but as mine fits snugly onto my seat stem I'm a little concerned that the difference will mean its a no goer. FYI here are the sizes with mine in brackets; 115mm (90mm), 80mm (85mm), 385mm 365 mm

I cannot find the 10aH on the site. Would appreciate you sending a link. Thanks.

Hi d8veh, not sure me reply earlier today got sent, so here we go again...I did go to the website you posted a link to but there is postage payable on all sales. They were offering the battery for $180 but postage brought it up to just over $300 in total which is about the same price as Cyclamatic in UK ( depending on how they sort the exchange rate out).
  13. Hi, I bought have a folding cyclamatic last year and am looking for the best price on a new battery (current one OK but I'd like a 'spare'). Sports HQ were selling them for £225 each a couple of months ago, but today when I looked on their website, the price had jumped to £299. Has anyone else noticed this big jump in price? So my question is, are there any websites selling discounted e-bike accessories?
  14. Hi, I bought myself a new Cyclamatic a couple of months ago so now have a Powabyke (lead acid battery) for sale. I watched one being auctioned on e-bay for parts the other day. It reached £99. Any offers? I live in the Exeter area, so if you're reasonably local and can pick it up, let me know.
  15. Has anyone attempted to lower the handlebars on a folding cyclamatic? How easy is it to do?
  16. OK. Thanks will also check to see if the battery is touching the upright
  17. Thanks. Will purchase said spoke key
  18. Hi, I've just had my new Cyclamatic 'safety checked' at the local bike shop in Crediton. They think the rattling noise it makes when ridden are the spokes on the back wheel. Is this a common problem with cyclamatics? Is it a long job to get them tightened?I see from other posts that squeaky front brakes are a common problem. My new bike squeaks loudly. Is there a good on-line bike spares sites whre I could purchase shimano calipers and brake pads mentioned. I know someone who might be able to fit them for me. Apart from these teething problems I'm really enjoying riding the bike. A friend who has an electric Giant gave it a test ride the other day and she said it felt the Cyclamatic felt more powerful on pedal assist. PJK

OK, I shall do as you suggest and just recharge after each outing. Re: LED on charger, as I have just posted to JuicyBike, it does show green when unplugged from battery, but still refuses to go green to show battery fully charged when connected up.
  20. PJK replied to PJK's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Yes, it does show green when unplugged from battery
  21. PJK replied to PJK's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Right. Thank you Juicybike. I have now discovered the indicator lights do, in fact, work. However, the LED on the charger still remains red, despite the fact that, now, the battery indicator lights are saying it's fully charged.
  22. PJK replied to PJK's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Hello again d8veh You said in your previous email that to activate the lights on the battery "press the little white pip with the power symbol next to the lights. They're red, amber and green, and all light up when charged and you press the pip". I did as you suggested today, having charged the battery for the full six hours, and they do not light up. The LED on the charger has also refused to turn green. I'm wondering if the charger and battery are faulty. PJK

Thank you so much d8veh. That's very useful. I note what you say about the charger's LED turing green when the battery is fully charged, but yesterday I charged the battery for a full six hours, having drained it intentionally (as I have been told to do this three times with a new battery to 'condition it') and the LED was still red. Any suggestions? Also, the two fuses. The one near the top of the battery is F5AL 250v and the one near the bottom is F20AL 250v. Why the difference? The voltage has been checked and it agrees with your figures, so that's OK.
  24. Hello all, I've just bought a cyclamatic and, so far, so good. I've taken it on three short rides to the local town and back and I'm getting used to how it operates. As with all new equipment, it can take a while to get comfortable/familiar with the workings etc and, as such, I do have some questions for anyone that's reading this that has a cyclamatic and can enlighten me about the following. Firstly, on the top of the battery there are three indicators, a green, yellow and red one. They don't light up or move at all whether the battery is being used or is idle. What are they for? Secondly, the charger fact sheet that came with the bike, states that when the battery is fully charged the LED on the charger will turn from red to green. I've had the battery on charge for six hours and the LED remains red. ( The charger, however, feels very warm and the battery itself cold) How long does one need to charge the battery before it turns green? (BTW I was told that I should have immediately charged the battery when I unpacked the bike. It did not say to do this on any of the information that came with the bike - in fact it says that it comes fully charged. So, what is the correct protocol here - to charge or not to charge and for how long? Thirdly, on the battery itself there are two fuses. Do you know if one of these is a spare? And lastly, anyone know what position the battery key should be in whilst the battery is charging? I know this sounds like a no-brainer but, again, no mention of this detail in the fact sheet that comes with it. I also have some general queries about insurance and other equipment like slime, locks and pumps etc but that can maybe wait for another post. Many thanks in advance for any replies. PJK
