905se City
Thanks a lot. Last couple of months in UK... Depending on the cycling conditions where I go, I may be tempted to go electric again In any case, I still enjoy reading this forum. So if you see a guy on a race bike that says hi to the electic cyclists it might be me. Goryl

905se City
Hi, Thanks a lot for the warranty! The bike was serviced beginning of August. Is this ok or should I get it serviced? I did not really use it since then but if this too long I will be happy to get it serviced if I have a good offer. Anyone interested in seeing/trying the bike, just let me know. PS: It was a small accident and I was lucky to have only a few bruises.

905se City
Hello, It has been quite some time since I did not have a chance to say hi! My nice wisper 905se has been staying idle for far too long now. The bike was bought new from the Electric Transport Shop in January 2012. Following a small accident, the following part have been completely renewed in August: Front wheel, motor wheel, throttle, grip, saddle, rack, brake levers. The bike was fully inspected by the Electric Transport Shop and all the parts that were even slightly touched were changed. I had an insurance and was not responsible for the accident so everything was put to new. Since everything had been rebuild and frame was not touched, the warranty is not affected (I had both ets and wisper confirming it at the time). The rear brake has been upgraded to Shimano Deore. On the rear wheel, I fitted a schwalbe marathon plus that is almost new. The front tyre is the original one so it has done a faire amount of miles but is still good. Battery is 37V16ah. I have really taken good care of it as I love the bike. The bike has always been stored in door. It is in a really good shape and looks almost new except for the few expected marks here and there. I am looking into prices at the moment. If anyone is interested give me a shout. The bike is in North London and I am happy to arrange viewing. Goryl

Cycling under the rain
Did you ever walk in the wind/rain with an umbrella? If not, buy a cheap umbrella and try. you will probably understand why everybody say don't! Goryl

The French put a stop to it.
I am starting to be very curious: Could you explain what exactly you mean by : "Certainly in the South, their attitude to animals and firearms may be different to ours, but not startlingly so. Just don't expect them to be exactly the same." Goryl

How to sell an ebike?
Hi, -You could try to put in the classified -I thought that ebay with a very low starting price (but a reserve in case) was working quite well. Goryl

The French put a stop to it.
There are so many French in London that some even end up on pedelecs More seriously, it is almost impossible to go out in London without meeting/hearing French. I have spent 5 years in Portsmouth before moving to London, the difference is quite choking. Goryl

Bradley Wiggins Sparks Helmet Debate
Hi, I wear an helmet. Although I completely agree that it won't help much if I am hit by anything heavy or at speed... I just think it cannot do much harm either and it can be very useful for "light" accident. As far as I know, there are no evidence that helmets really save lives... What is needed though, is not legislation, it is improvement on the road. It feels a bit middle age in some places of London... There are intersections with huge potholes. Have a nice day and ride safely Goryl

The French put a stop to it.
Hi, We still have quite a few British words in French. Weekend is a good example In the case of Stop, my guess would be that the formulation is much shorter in English than its equivalent in French (i,e Arretez-vous or Arret obligatoire (with the accents)). In regards to the French/British relations I completely agree, as a French expat, it does not feel that different. If only, there was bread and wine Goryl

Freedom E-Bike
Hi, Yes, I had a look at their website. It looks good but I have no idea of the prices yet. There is nothing on the ebay store and the other "shop" is in chinese. I will also go back to the shop and see what other bikes I could get under the scheme that would work... Jerry, I live in north London. Thanks a lot for the offer. At the moment I haven't made any decision. I cannot afford to get a new bike without selling the wisper... Goryl

Freedom E-Bike
Yes, I agree... for some reasons I thought that for most of the bike, it was just a matter of changing wheels... @Richard: Yes, I have seen your post... How do you find the bike? Did you have any issue? How many miles did you do so far? Thanks!

Freedom E-Bike
Hi Eddieo, Thanks for the link, that is good. The bike is the model just under this one... I will probably try one this week end. Is a carbon frame problematic to fit a kit? For info, as I may not be the only one looking for information. The electric wheel company answered my query: Thank you for your email. We are working on re-engineering our kits for road bikes at the moment and hope to have completed the specification by the end of the summer. An overview of fitting is likely to include the following (subject to final specification) Remove the front wheel Adjust the existing forks by shaving off around 2mm each side by angle grinding and extend using a tool provided by us. Fit new front wheel which will include the motor already built in Fit harness including controller Fit throttle (probably a thumb throttle on dropped handlebars) Attach block for bag Wire bag frame and fit connectors Fit battery into bag Connect system Prices are still to be confirmed but are likely to be around £800 for the 10ahr kit and £700 for the 5Ahr kit. Extra batteries would be £395 for a 10Ahr battery and £295 for a 5Ahr battery. We have not specified the bags yet. I will keep your details on file and let you have more information as soon as it becomes available. Goryl

Freedom E-Bike
Thanks, I have seen the threads, but it is a bit too techi for me I have also seen the nano comapny, but from the website it looks like the kit is not available for full size bikes yet. Plan would be to buy a relatively good road bike and use it without assistance in summer and add a kit to it for more challenging weather. I think the 6 months cycling to work made me fit enough to manage My local bike shop is suggesting this bike (They do not have any electrical bike): http://www.mekkbicycles.com/Potenza-SL-5.0-105.aspx With the cycle to work, it would come around 600 something. I have dropped a line to the people from freedom to check whether the installation could be done on it. I am really considering the idea as at the moment I am spending 60 pounds/week in transportation... Goryl

Freedom E-Bike
Hello, Whilst waiting till my bike is back as new (it makes it worthwhile to wait ) Just wondering if anyone is using one of this kit: Freedom E-Bikes - Home I am considering buying a bike with the cycle to work scheme and trying to go to work with only a light assistance. I am not skilled enough to build my own kit so wondering if anyone has experience with this one I am also looking at the cytronex range but I cannot go to Winchester during opening times and it looks like it would be much more expensive and probably problematic to get the cycle to work scheme working.. Moreover, I do not really like their warranty policy. Thanks a lot for the help. Goryl

Free Online Course. High quality!
On the one I took, all the materials and tutorials were online. You can get help through the forum where other students and tutors answer if you are stuck. I cannot really compare with other distance classes as I have tried only this one Goryl

Free Online Course. High quality!
Hi, I am not related to them in any way. I completed the machine learning course and was very happy about the quality of the material provided. Their is a wide range of topics and levels. It is completely free. They have announced, among others, a course on the fundamentals of electrical engineering which could help to understand what we ride https://www.coursera.org/ Goryl

Weird noise coming from the handle bar controller
What is an RTI? I guess the R is for road, the I for Incident. I am missing the T. There is quite a few roundabouts on the way to work. The irony is that this one does not even look dangerous.... On a few rare occasions, I have seen a car entering a roundabout in front of me as if there was no one. I had to brake quite sharply. This one was completely stopped, so I did not even think about it when I passed in front...

Weird noise coming from the handle bar controller
Hi, The driver stopped and gave me name/contact/plate number. The blind spot would really explain things cause she was clearly trying to understand how come she did not see me. Hopefully she will admit being responsible but we will see. I will keep the ride in car-like position in mind. I tend to take my space clearly but maybe I should do even more in the roundabout. It looks like I will be without a bike for at least a few weeks. Goryl

Weird noise coming from the handle bar controller
I should have stayed home Nothing to do with the noise: A car took me down in a round about this morning. I am lucky in the sense that I have only bruises. However, it looks like the bike will need some serious work before it is back on the road. One of the thing that really worries me, is that, as far as I can see, I did nothing wrong and don't really see what I could have done differently: I was already within the round about. The car was stopped at the entrance and started whilst I was in front of it.... In any case, I am happy to be in one piece! Goryl

Dubious Provenance?
I am with everybody in the sense that I am also quite sure that the bike is stolen. Still, I would give the guy a chance to explain himself before any definitive conclusion (and check the frame number no matter what the explanation is). Goryl
