I know there is the Currie one,but has anyone built one using a scooter motor like the Unite one? Electric Scooter Motor 13.7 Amp - 250 Watt - 24 Volts on eBay, also Parts Accessories, Electric Scooters, Scooters, Sporting Goods (end time 02-Apr-08 19:11:54 BST) Are these motor's any good? What size would you need and what voltage? What are the advantages/disadvantages of chain drive? Thanks in advance for any help given!

Exactly mate,something a bit....different! I wouldn't buy one,unless I lived in the states,there were no hills, as it's just something for a bit of a laugh and not to be used as a serious ebike. Thanks for the welcome fella! Regards Darren

I don't currently have an ebike flecc,but I'm getting the Alien motor Kit from Ebay to fit to my current hybrid bike.

Hmmm that's stuffed that idea then,told you I didn't know much about these things,infact most of the stuff on here goes way over my head:o Thought it may be useful for getting greater distances:rolleyes: ,is there nothing else you could do,other than taking a spare battery or using a petrol motor?

Thanks for the reply flecc,I asssume it's illegal due to being a petrol motor, so would it be possible with an electric motor instead?

Not knowing much about ebikes:o i'm sure that this is probably a stupid question,but is there a way of powering an ebike and charging the battery like you would a car? I would assume the motor would run the wheel,which runs an alternator somehow,which then powers the battery. Apologies if this has been asked many times before! Regards Darren

Hello everyone, I have AS (Ankylosing spondylitis) so suffer with my joints ect ,i'm looking for a way to keep fit but not stress my body too much and an electric bike seems just the job! I used to love riding my bike but am now overweight and unfit :o i've been looking at the Alien kit but would like to know if anyone has experience with this and if it's worth the money.
