UPDATE Again thank you all for input. After speaking to our dealer on trade in values etc we are going to re-cell the batteries. In touch with Jimmy ....

Ebike towbar carrier
We've had an older version of this one for about 7 years on back of motorhome. Heavily used rack beginning to show signs of age eg had to have a small bit of welding done, but overall it was a good purchase and I'd go for Atera again https://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbvehsel4_tab.php/car-specific-accessories/atera_strada_sport_m_2_to_3_bike_carrier_no_ar2684/Qx%40w%2C6M42VAwp3%40Rb%7B~cC4ure5CWYj

Freego Eagle - 2013 Model
Thank you all, thats really useful input. The re-celling is tempting but with 2 bikes I think I'll trade in for new bikes. We like the Eagles but our dealer has stopped doing them (Electricbikescotland) so I might look at different makes eg Kalkoff (not Impulse!) It would be useful if we do trade in to get lighter bikes as we've both hit 70 and the bikes need to be lifted onto a rack!!:(

Freego Eagle - 2013 Model
We bought two of these in June 2013 and after initial glitches we've been delighted with these bikes. Mainly used in conjunction with our motorhome where they are carried on a towbar mounted rack (batteries carried inside). Anyone interested in more detail on the history of ownership can click here http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/freego-eagle-2013-model.17642/#post-294104 About two years ago battery on my bike went flat. Turned out to be a faulty charger. The batteries were tested by dealer and found to be good - about 80% of original capacity. But no other issues until now. My bike feels as if its lost power. Feels the same if I use the other battery. It seems like hills are not as easy for the bike than they once were. Could the motor 'age' and lose torque? Or should I just replace the batteries (16Ah) since they are now over 5 years old? But the batteries take a charge well and appear to retain it for over 20 miles, its just the power appears to have dropped? Or just trade in the bikes?

Freego Eagle - 2013 Model
I haven't posted on here for ages so thought I'd do an update on our findings. We bought 2 x Freego Eagles in June 2013, each with 16Ah battery. One bike wasn't working properly when we got it home from dealer. He discovered a loose connection so easily fixed. Very early on we had a series of broken spokes on both bikes. Replaced by dealer. Eventually wheels returned to HO workshop where the wheels were relaced by hand. No issues with spokes since. I had a brake fail early on - scary as on a steep hill at the time - but again easily fixed as dealer sent me a new caliper and pads. No problems since. We have two chargers and I suspect one is faulty and is cutting out early. eg battery almost flat after a run in the cold. Onto charger and it cut out after 90 minutes. I was expecting 4-5 hours? Not sure if dealer can check charger? Batteries are kept inside all year round - for security and health of batteries. Seem to be OK. When new they did 52 miles on full charge, not sure what now. My bike has done at least 3000 miles and my wife's probably 1500 miles or so. The above issues look bad but its not intended that way. The bikes have settled down after a few glitches early on and are GREAT. I'm not looking for a new bike anyway but do not regret buying an Eagle. Good bikes.....

FreeGo Eagle - what to oil?
My wife and I are still enjoying our almost 2 year old Eagles. After some initial teething problems (breaking spokes, cured by professional re-lacing) the bikes have long since settled down to become quiet, reliable, pleasant machines to ride and own. After care service also excellent ..... The question..... There are obvious points to oil eg chain, brake pivots etc, but do the crank, pedals and hubs require oiling, or are these sealed, no-maintenance? Nothing in User Manual on this Many thanks Arthur

Thank you for responding. Its a Tektro Novela. Bike is still under warranty so dealer is simply going to do as you suggest ie replace the caliper Arthur

Freego Eagle - 2013 Model
Fixed .... Had a tinker and stripped it down, reassembled, and its working. But its back to dealers as for some reason the pad(s) are not responding to the lever or they stick in housing .... not a pleasant experience when going downhill as happened on first failure! Arthur

Freego Eagle - 2013 Model
Having said I was very happy with my Eagle on another thread yesterday, when out on my bike today the rear brakes failed! Thats the second time. The brake lever at the hub rotates through its full radius. The discs are present and do not appear displaced. On the first occasion my dealer - I watched - stripped the rear disc, rebuilt it, replaced it, and it worked! We are hoping to go away for a couple of weeks later this week and don't have time to take the bike (30 mile round trip) to dealer again. Any expert here, an idea of what is going wrong? Many thanks Arthur

eZee Forza RWB City Edition Review
I would be happy to pass on your regards but I tend to not communicate on any of his threads as he is clearly an 'expert' and knows everything about anything all the time and frankly I could not compete in such intellectual circles Will check out your thread Not planning on changing my Eagle but do like keeping abreast of professional opinion ...

eZee Forza RWB City Edition Review
This is genuinely interesting. I'm perfectly happy with my Freego Eagle but there is an 'expert' on a motorhome forum who decries "Chinese Junk" and for hill climbing "its got to be Panasonic or Bosch crank drive" and "Buy German" etc etc Now I'm no expert and have no vested interest in any manufacturer but up here (Scotland) hills are hills and not 'knolls', so where does the truth lie about "best for hill climbing"?
