Using other batteries on Panasonic lithium powered units
Erik - Did this work? Is it the 26V 8Ah battery you used? (Its a long time ago I know) Has anyone tried anything similar?

Thoughts please on Cube Suv Hybrid Pro 500 27.5 2016
I think only the Cube full suspension e-bikes , ie Cube Stereo have push-button seat height adjustment, when youre actually riding it, with button on left handlebar, if thats what u mean. It was on the one I demoed. Useful for going downhill

CX housing is all metal, and slightly smaller than the Active/Performance Cruise etc. I reckon the only difference is software. Theyre making big news of the fact that the starting torque is up from 50 to 75 -but its the same power. They've simply increased the torque limit at very low speed, for starting on a steep hill. I couldnt tell the difference once the bike got moving. Also because the case is smaller it gives better ground clearance and theyve angled it upwards in the frame a bit. So the CX better suited to rock jumping. HPA reaction PRO is great value but has some cheaper components and coil sprung forks. I think the more expensive HPA reaction RACE is better with 11-speed 11-42 (thats nearly 4:1) (XT components throughout) and air forks, but its an extra 400 quid I was thinking about the HPA RACE but am now leaning to the SUV Alfine. I like the fact that it has a better chainline and big bouncy tyres. Still dithering though..

And now ubyk in Brighton are going to be doing Cube ebikes http://www.ubyk.co.uk/our-store . I met the Cube rep in store on Wednesday, and borrowed a CX bosch engined bike for a blast up the steepest hills in Brighton. I think theyll do well because they are in the middle of town. They are deciding which ones to order in. The CX is physically smaller than the Active and produces the higher torque (70Nm) only at very low speeds - really for steep off road climbing at low speed. My understanding is that once above walking speed the torques are the same for all versions of the 250w motor, and that on the road you wont notice any difference. The Cube SUV uses the Active so as not to overstress the Alfine S7000 hub.

Bafang BBS01 Crank Drive Kit
Thanks d8veh for the useful info. Do you know if Kevin Fang is also selling the slightly bigger one? I like the idea of 350W (as in my original link). I couldnt see a link in his shop? But is the 350W motor bigger than the 250W (111mm dia)? Or is it just the same motor, with more volts?

8fun crank drive kit
I'd be interested. I've just joined this site with the intention of building a mid-drive. I work at a university where 20 staff have just been loaned Raleigh Dover ebikes for a couple of months (with the Panasonic mid drive) as part of a research project to examine usage. All bikes are fitted with GPS trackers. I was skeptical about ebikes beforehand but the Panasonic drive is awesome. I used to drive in to work every day - 3 miles/very hilly - now I e-bike every day, and I havent used the car for two weeks, so I'll be sorry to hand the bike back at the end of the trial period. But I dont really want to pay a couple of grand when I can build one for under £500 using a second hand bike (Actually I'd prefer a bike that looked old and tatty, so its less likely to get nicked) The BBS01 is one option. (Is anyone buying 4?) The other option is to convert a hub drive. I have access to state of the art machining equipment (CNC controlled plasma/laser cutters) so if anyone can provide any drawings I could supply the parts.. Just thinking aloud...
