The Dash has a 14 - 28 cassette. Anything with a higher gear say 11 or 12 tooth are normally 7 speed at least which would not match the 6 speed shifter. If you can find a 6 speed please post the details because as you say your legs are just treading air with the 14 tooth.

I think you will find that it will only go so far before it sinks. If you saw the recent Guy Martin programme he tried it on a converted motocross bike, before he got very far it sank like a stone to the bottom of the lake.

Obviously the first option in any collision with any motor vehicle would be avoidance. Failing that surely any protection is better than no protection at all ! It's your head so it's your choice.

Can anybody be in such a hurry that they overtake a bus that has already pulled out then ride into an ever decreasing gap ? Obviously no road sense.
