  1. I cycled to Spain from the UK this time last year on the Ansmann FT15. A fantastic bike with excellent equipment and great warranties. Battery life outstanding. My bottom gave in before the battery and I regularly cycled over 50 miles in a day. Terrific support from the company when there was a problem with the front hub drive and they got me back en-route quickly and efficiently.See www.e-rider.eu for more! The bike has performed faultlessly since then on my regular local trips and I am planning another trip later this year.
  2. I'm glad some of you are enjoying the blog. It was a fantastic experience. I will be happy to give more details to anyone interested in finding out more about the route, the bike or the good and bad bits! But even the bad bits were good!
  3. Hello all. I am just back from a trip down the Velodyssey. It started in Roscoff and ended in Hendaye on the Spanish border. The bike was an Ansmann Trek FT15. I kept a blog to keep my family informed of progress and thought members of the forum might be interested. A great trip and confirmation that a pedelec can be the perfect bike for long-distance touring. The link to the blog is: www.e-rider.eu Best wishes Dave
  4. I have owned an Ansmann FT 15 Trek for the last couple of months and am slowly building up to a trip down the West coast of France to Spain in the spring. So far it has been faultless. Great build quality, excellent 27 gear system. Light enough to use without power on the flat or when the wind is with you but great boost through the battery powered front hub when required. Battery life also excellent. I far prefer it to my previous bike, a Kalkhoff Agattu. Hope this is helpful.
  5. My second foray into the electric bike community. I previously owned and rode a Kalkhoff Agattu. Now retired, I am adding evidence of my mid-life crisis by planning a solo trip down part of Eurovelo 1 from Roscoff to Northern Spain and then onwards (in part by train!) to Castellon de la Plana where my daughter lives. Leaving spring 2014. Arriving??? Might camp a bit but expect that the siren call of the Gites, Chambres d'hôtes and Hotels will be hard to resist. Did loads of research before the NEC exhibition and had decided on a hub drive with not too much weight and enough gears to allow me to ride without power when the weather, terrain and my fitness allows. Had 3 or 4 on the short list but was so impressed by the Ansmann FT15 trek (front hub, 27 gears) that I ordered one there and await delivery later this week. Rode the FC1 4 times and the FT15 Trek once to compare with the others on trial. The FT Trek was a revelation on the track compared to the others I have tried and, coupled with the outstanding warranty for drive and battery, made the decision easy for me. I hope to be able to update the forum as I progress towards my road trip and will welcome any advice from any members who have been on long trips. I think I will need it! Dave
