Pro Connect S Info ?
Intex. At a quick glance, it looks like there are several changes on the S model. Flat handlebars with bar end grips. Front suspension. More spokes in the wheels. Sports saddle, and a shorter chain guard, (presumably to cater for the extra movement of deraileure gears). The frame looks identical, and apart from the extra materials used in the suspension, I think it will be of similar weight to the standard model. Whether or not this makes it worth the extra money is anyones guess. Regards Mick

Worst Drivers
Anyone who overtakes me too slowly! I hate it when some smug (ooh look at me, Im driving safely) wally, comes alongside as if tomorrow will do. What happens when something appears from the other direction? Mr or Mrs "Safe Driver" couldnt give a toss about me, as they swing back to the left to make way for the other vehicle, leaving me on the kerb, or worse. When overtaking bikes, do it quickly and cleanly, not "safely". (a word that has been hijacked by morons who wants to bring the world to a standstill) Thats my rant for today Regards Mick

News: battery fire at European maker BMZ
I have recently been enlightened by a comment from a new member of staff at work, who previously worked for a battery manufacturer. When I mentioned my Pro Connect, and its Lithium battery, she warned of the volatility of this material during the manufacturing process, particularly if any moisture came into contact with it, causing a fire, but stressed it was only during manufacture. It did get me to thinking though. What if I crashed the bike and broke the battery casing, and it was raining? I now ride just a little bit more carefully as a result. (only a bit, mind) Mick

Cycle Clothing
I always buy Altura jackets and trousers, but beware of the sizing. When you try on a jacket that looks ok when your standing upright, it will probably be one size too small for you, because of the extended position of your arms when riding. So go for one size up, even if it looks a bit uncool when youre not riding the bike. Happy hunting. Mick

Pro-Connect - My First Ride
Hi chaps. I meant to weigh my 57 Pro Connect when it arrived last week, but the previous messages here have reminded me to, so here goes. I weigh 14 stone without bike, and 17 stone 3 and a half pounds with, but havent got a clue what that means in euro whatsits:confused: , so perhaps one of you would have a look on a conversion thingy. Hope that helps. Mick

Adjustment of gears
I cant seem to make the yellow marks line up in 4th, but by fiddling with the cable I can make it line up in 6th, and then back to 5th, but there isnt enough adjustment in the cable to get it to line up in 4th. Dont know if that means missing gears or not, I didnt think top gear felt very high, but Ill keep fiddling, maybe try to rethread the cable. thanks for all your help Mick

Adjustment of gears
Hi paul. Do you mean a dot on the shifter at the handlebar end? I cant see one. I have tried putting it in 4th and adjusting the cable to force it back one gear, but not succeded yet. Cant really tell if Im missing a gear by riding and shifting thru all the gears in order, but there is a gear at every shift. Mick

Adjustment of gears
rock_hopper, you say put it into 4th gear, but the yellow lines on my pro connect only line up in 5th:confused: Have I done something wrong, or maybe Im missing a gear. Any clarification would be appreciated. Mick

Pro-Connect - My First Ride
Sorry Tim. I didnt mean to sound like I was complaining, the service from you, and the bike, have been top notch. On the legal side, I dont mind if the motor is only powered to 15mph, but can any mod be done to raise just the ratio, (not sure if even the 16 teeth will do it) so I can pedal up to 25/30mph if conditions permit. I am fairly fit (ish), and have another bike (Marin Mill Valley) with 50/34 front, and 11/26 rear. Many thanks Mick

Pro-Connect - My First Ride
Excellent review, Chris I travel on fairly level roads, and have so far only used 8th gear, so will sort that out asap. I thought I paid 50C fifteen quid for the gear mod, but no mod was done, and no sprocket supplied even, but I think they are only 3 or 4 quid. Its very comfortable too. It rides over potholes and speedbumps better than any other bike I have ridden, so a big thumbs up from me. Mick

Pro-Connect ordered?
Brilliant news Thanks for that Scott. Im off work all week, doing odd jobs in the garden, so if my 57cm pro connect arrives, I can get away from all that and have some fun. PS. Can anyone tell me how to start a new paragraph here, it all looks jumbled squashing sentences together. Cheers Mick.

How many electric bikes do you see out on the roads?
Only seen one round here in south oxfordshire. Think it was a Powabyke. 12 mph, not pedalling, but only saw it fron behind. Last year while on holiday in Italy (Lake Garda), I saw loads of them, even a police bike. Maybe Britain is lagging behind a little, me thinks!
