Suitable for conversion?
Here is a photo of my bike. Frame is not magnetic but forks are, so steel I presume with ally frame.

Suitable for conversion?
Not at home this weekend but will post a photo when I get back. Well, my other half will. Too techy for me.

Suitable for conversion?
Thanks chaps. I'm not light at 100kg+ and I'm not as fit as I once was but have cycled most of my life. Not a speed merchant and 15 mph limit is fine by me. Terrain is more difficult to pin down as i get around the country a lot in my motor home and could be in any type of terrain. Want some assistance with hills because my arthritis is making them increasingly difficult.

Suitable for conversion?
I have a Dawes Discovery 601 ATB that i bought about 12 years ago. It hasn't had a massive amount of use and i was wondering if it would be ripe for conversion? It wasn't cheap and has Shimano Deore parts throughout including 27 gears, most of which i never use. It has V brakes and is a very nippy and light machine. I notice some people are converting very cheap, bog standard Halford bikes and was wondering if there is a reason for this, or is it just a cost issue? If my bike is suitable, where should i be looking and what parts would people recommend? Thanks in advance. Steve.

Yet another big bloke with a grand to spend...
Could have written a lot of your post about myself Phil. Can't offer you any advice as i have just come around to the thought of obtaining an ebike and am currently reading as much info as i can on the subject. Difference is that there are 2 or 3 dealers in my neck of the woods, so i have the option to test ride a few. Like you i just want a bit of extra grunt on the hills and am capable of turning over the pedals on the flat and moderate inclines. Advancing years, weight and arthritis is making it more and more difficult to get up the bigger hills that were once in my range. I like the look of the Kudos bikes and luckily there is a dealer 20 miles away, so i can give them a try. Hope we both find what we are looking for and i shall keep an eye on this thread. Steve.

Of course. I know where you mean now. Bought a chain link extractor from there but didn't look at the bikes because i wasn't in the market for a new one when i visited. Will have a look. Cheers Mike.

It may have something to do with me drunkenly playing very loud rock music at 3 in the morning. She was fine before that.

Didn't know about the Wilco shop. Is it in the old Abbey Caravan yard? Never been in Cooks on Pasture St. I was a Percy's cycles man 'til he shut down and now use Woods on St Peters Ave. Was up at Wilton Rd on business yesterday and noticed the new Cooks shop, so went in on a whim and had a look. They did seem a tad expensive and the only thing that the young lady assistant seemed to know about ebikes is that 'they are brilliaaaaaant', which she repeated several times in the vain hope that i would part with almost 3 grand on a bike she knew nothing about.

Really? That does surprise me. Can't say i've ever noticed them but i aint been looking 'til now. Just got back from a tour of the North of England and saw an older gent whizzing in and out of the campsite, which is what got me looking at them, after i came back from a ride in the hills the worst for wear. Also noticed that my next door neighbour has one and i'd never clicked on before that it was an ebike. I'd ask her for a go but she is a sour faced mare.
