  1. I wouldn't be unhappy at registering a bike, I already have insurance for my stock of 18 bikes, including a couple of trikes. I'm certain that in France they allow 15mph vehicles to travel on off road cycleways. The Spartamet comes to mind. perhaps the main point should be inclusion that doesn't amount to a large increase of road users, cycling is still a "Relaxing Pleasure" to me (Most of the time) and not being able to use the more scenic routes would mean I would be more likely to use the car/motorbike for Utility journeys. In some ways I agree with having a "Basic" registration. A way of linking any bike with it's owner would be a positive thing. As long as it wouldn't mean having huge, Car Sized, number plates making it difficult to carry camping gear and the like.
  2. Would the EAPC require it to be registered as a motor vehicle? If I'm in the "Lost my Leg" phase of a journey I would want to be legal to ride on Cycleways, rather than reduced/limited reaction on roads, amongst other busy traffic. I want to make the point that I only have the motor on when I need it, or set to a "Low assist" level.
  3. p.s. I'd be looking for a 20" front wheel of 250Watt and 36volt.
  4. Due to my declining health and a 30 year disability my cycling days are getting less and less. I've had a couple of pedelecs, still got one. I now need to rest my legs for a minute or two when riding. I'm thinking of putting a 250W front wheel on my trike, balance issues too! The problem is leg movement, not particularly strength but neural. In 2002 I had an old TGA trike. It didn't have the pedal sensor (PAS?) so I used the motor by throttle as and when I needed. Are there any front hub motors that I could link direct to a twistgrip throttle? I don't want to stop cycling, doing it for 55 years now, but Ia "Safe Option" for times when I want to be outside.
  5. Steve in Lancaster. Registered ages ago as Pedaldog. Forgot I'd registered and reset things to Sedentix.
  6. I'll try and get some piccies tomorrow, bikes at my brothers at the moment, and appreciate the help d8veh
  7. Only test we've managed to do on mi8ne is to run the motor, not using the control box but a separate battery and using a Servo Tester for a throttle. The motor turned the wheel okay, even with a resistance from the brakes etc it showed a decent amount of pull. Refitted the controller and nothing at all. I know the bike's battery is okay and the motor is okay so it only leaves the controller as far as I can see. Open to any suggestions to, simple to perform, other easy tests to try as I don't want to have to shell out "Earth Pounds" unless it is unavoidable.
  8. Thanks Phil but I tried them this past week or so and they are all away doing the exhibitions and stuff. d8veh, brother looked it over and says it is deaderised. Got the bike being told there was a problem with that bit so not surprised.
  9. That is acceptable my friend. Please ship it to my mother in Nigeria as she is there unselfishly looking after 18 orphans in a small shack whilst waiting for the funds to be raised in order to gain for her an operation that will only save her live. You are the only person that has responded to our contacts of desperation and, as a thank you, we recognise your generosity and will send you compensation just as very soon as the funds that are trapped by our government but are, I Promise you this, legitimately ours, can be released to us.
  10. or what about this for "!%99.00, seems to fit your wanted spec' http://www.e-bikesdirect.co.uk/Item/Brands/Byocycle/Byocycle_Boxer_24_Electric_Folding_Bike.aspx
  11. be aware that the Sludge tubes do add a fair bit of drag to the rolling and it might cut your range or speed a little. probably not too much but just sayin' like.
  12. John, John, John... what Can I say but "You Have Failed me"! Not only did you put me nearly 100 yards away from my flat but you put me on a street that5 has a lot of student housing on it! Can I forgive you? I have an idea... Redemption might be a possibility if you were to.. say... buy me a 500watt rear wheel motor that would allow me to keep the derailleur gears and fit it on my Trice recumbent Trike.
  13. Have you thought about buying a 26" wheeled folder, such as the Rudge Bi-frame and adding your own kit to that? I had a Bi-frame a few years ago and it was a nice bike to ride, steady handling and folded acceptably when needed. I know it's a good long lasting bike as it's been through various members of YACF and Fell Club members and AFAIK is still running okay.
  14. As the thread title says. I need to find a controller for the UM55S. It is a 220watt, brushless motor with a 26Volt Li-Po battery and after a day of ... "PLAYING!" I find that the motor is okay but the control unit is dead and there is no throttle fitted at all. I have only found one control unit so for that says 250 to 500 watts. Will that work, it is for Brushless motors. With shipping it would cost me around the £55-00 mark, again is that a decent price? I can find a throttle easily I'm sure so that's not a worry for now but I cannae dae Nuffink without the Controller and I can't afford to pay the £125.00, or more, that I see advertised in some dealers. Advice, insults and offers of cash would all be welcome.
  15. Can somebody whup me on the map at LA1 2AX please? Ta and T' ing!
  16. It's amazing just how much speed a Fat Blerk can build up rolling down a Big Hill and if there's a bag of chips waiting at the bottom the Turbo Lard comes in with a squelchy kick:)
  17. It is I, the Dog. Located in Lancaster and have been cycling on and off for a few years since some serious Head injuries. made moty sickles a bad idea. In late July I had some bone fusion surgery in my foot and have been told "No weight bearing, no walking and no cycling for the next six months or more from now"! This means I am trapped and going stir crazy so looked for options. Managed to get hold of an old Urban Move U-cruiser um55 that isn't working but I will EKSPERYMENT on it! Hoping the motor is okay and just the control until is oos but if that's the case I reckon I'll have it running soon and be playing out. I can't use a power sensor with the pedalling input as the foot is not movable for a rotation of the pedals so I need a twist and go set up for now. I am not able to work from the disabilities, officially Traumatic Brain Injuries, so the Earth Pounds are VERY limited. At least, cos I broke my head, I have a great excuse for asking stoopid kweschuns and will try not to disappoint on that score.
