  1. I have read the legislation guide on here and it says 250w rated maximum My LBS says they are legal as they put out 250w average but 530w max in turbo mode I'm confused, what does rated mean? And how is average measured ? On a side note the bike I'm specifically referring to is a specialized Turbo Levo my LBS says the Bosch engine says 250w but puts out 600w max though the Brose motors have more torque, My LBS says the 250w average figure is just a marketing stunt to keep them legal in normal modes but turbo modes will get more and more power year on year.
  2. this sounds great, though i must confess its all new to me so i am looking for a simple solution..either a full kit or if anyone can point me in the direction of a company that will do a bespoke build that would be great. another concern is that id like to maximize the use out of any solution hence one of the reasons the Go-e seemed a good idea as it can be moved from bike to bike as she grows or changes discipline.
  3. i dont know what to believe now, obviously im not bothered if they are pushing the boundaries with the power and distance claims but i also dont want to be completely hoodwinked. another issue that someone pointed out was that i may struggle with BB height on such a small frame
  4. i want to convert my 5 year olds bike into an ebike, she is a proficient cyclist but due to illness has muscle wastage which hinders her, we ride on private tracks so dont have any regulation issues. we do own a childs oset motorcycle but this does not help build up her muscles hence why an ebike would be better. i am aware of some dedicated 24inh ebikes by haibike and KTM but they are too large. I have recently come across this kit that i believe i may be able to fit with minor modifications to her 16inch bike https://go-e.bike/en/ The can power can also be adjusted via an app which seems ideal as she wont need/want a powerful motor Before i spend the money i thought i start this post to see if anyone has any thoughts or advice thanks you
  5. Childrens pedlec......do they exist ? I'm ideally after a pedlec for my 4 year old, she perfectly competent on her bike but lacks the leg power to do any distance over hilly terrain She has a 16" Isla bike at present which is about as light as you get for this size bike so the next step is some power assistance, if an off the shelf pedlec is not available would any retrofit kits errr fit. Thanks
  6. Thanks Martin, the Xduro is certainly an option and the fox would be ok, not sure on the overvolt I want to like it but it just looks a bit strange (can put my finger on it) may be better in the flesh I'm easy on Bosch of Yamaha, from what Ive read they seem in the same ball park, but personally I think the Yamaha motor looks nicer but the Bosch has a better display I just had a look at Accel other manufatures to see what they had, not much in FS MTB's terms, I was hoping Ghost had something as they do some smart regular FS bikes, but thier Ebike is a half harted effort.... http://www.ghost-bikes.com/bikes-2015/bike-detail/teru-fs-lt-10/ If I wanted a bike that you did not stock are you able to order ? What's the RRP on the SDURO pro ?
  7. I'm open to options but certainly no less than 140mm and 180mm is going to be overkill, so all mountain / Enduro I'm keen to see a Hiabike in the flesh, I like this .... http://www.haibike.de/produkte_detail_en,,23467,detail.html My perfect spec is XT with Pike forks
  8. As this thread has gone beyond a few links I'll just give you a little back ground I'm after an electric bike for my farther who is 65 and not in the best of health, and has just recently had a a bit of a scare with his heart, he is a proficient off road motorcycle rider (MX and more recently Trials) hence im looking for something with some travel. I'm also after an Ebike for myself, just for the hell of it but I'd like something with travel also as I have plenty of other bikes (XC,CX, road) and to me electric just makes sense on a longer travel fun bike, (it will be interesting to see if I'm any quicker on long techy uphill sections compared to my 29er XC)
  9. Again thanks for all the advice, I've got a list of dealers to call today Tim, the Thon is a new one to me, but I know of Focus, what travel is the Thron ? I Can't see it on the focus website (probably being blind) Also when you say more powerful do you mean the 350w model ? It's a consideration but how much more powerful is it in the real world ? Is it worth getting in trouble for
  10. Thanks gents I did try the Hiabike dealer search but it keeps showing no results found thanks Col, it would be the 150 id be interested in (new year is fine) but would be great to look at the 125 and north wales is fine, can you name the dealer ? (just seen the KTM pic, that looks really nice) Hi martin, why the hell are you so far away !! Thanks John ill give those guys a call and see what they have
  11. Hi can anyone recomend an electric bike shop for full sus MTB's (that has some stock) im after a Bosch/Yamaha system (Haibike, Cube, KTM..ect) ive only seen the cube in the flesh and was going to order one but i cant even get on on pre-order im in the north west (uk) but will travel if need be cheers
  12. Thanks Eddie, I do like the look of the KTM and that travel would be fine, I'll try to find a dealer and pop in for a look. I've also booked a test ride on Cube stereo 2014 model, the guy at the shop said nothing has changed for 2015, is that really the case ? I'd expect the battery to improve year on year at least ?
  13. Hi all I'm new to the forum and electric bikes so please take it easy on me Basically I've had a knee op and expect to be struggling on a bike for the next 12months (I have a few more ops lined up) so thought I'd like to give an electric bike a bash So as per the title I'm looking for a bike ideally 650b with XT and 150ish travel, what's my options ? I know my regular bikes but I'm clueless when it comes to electric drives, and what's new out or due out for 2015 I'm manchester based but happy to do mail order or travel a bit I'd also like something that is road legal but can be easily de-restricted for when I use it on private land Thanks
