  1. Hi. I've been trying to re program the BBS02 using the cable and software, with some success. However, I find the motor lacks power at low revs / cadence, compared with the 350w Tongsheng TSDZ2, which this motor replaced. Is there any way of programming the motor with the software to deliver more grunt at low revs? It seems to me when riding that the motor only really starts helping when you have already pushed hard to establish a higher cadence, with very little help from the motor, compared to the Tongsheng. Is this because the Tongsheng is torque sensitive, and the Bafang is not? If someone could tell me the setting for max power at low revs, I have enough knowledge to take it from there. Thanks in advance.
  2. I purchased a thumb throttle after buying the kit without brakes or throttle, thinking it would be plug and play. I have plugged it in to the middle socket on the VLCD5 display, but it doesn't work. Is there something else I have to do in the settings?
  3. I think my settings are correct, but maybe you could tell me what they should be. Should the amp setting be on 16 for example? and what about the torque setting? I'm interested in your final option. So, if I'm going up a steep hill, I shouldn't drop to my lowest gear and be pedalling like a maniac to get the most out of the motor? I should try and stay in a higher gear?
  4. Hi. I have just fitted a Tongsheng TSDZ2 to my MTB. I'm familiar with e bikes with a hub motor, as I've owned one for 5 years, and have also converted another bike to a hub motor using a kit. I bought the Tongsheng TSDZ2 after reading many reviews, and because I rode a mid drive Yamaha while on holiday and loved the torque sensing. I have paired it with a 36v 10aH battery. The unit I got is supposed to be 350w, but I gather both the 250w and 350w motors are identical. Anyway, after riding two different hub motor bikes over several years, I find the Tongsheng to be very underpowered in comparison. I have a long steep hill on my commute, and on either of my hub powered bikes I used to sail up with no problem. My first attempt at the same hill with the Tongsheng had me in first gear, full turbo and I barely got up the hill. The battery was fully charged. I ought to point out that I cycle a lot and also have a road bike, so I'm not that unfit!! Any ideas, or am I expecting too much from the little motor? Will using the open source software make much of a difference? Is my battery powerful enough at 36v 10aH? It's only a couple of months old. And does anyone know if there's any difference between the 250w and 350w versions?
  5. It's seems to be a special offer, as they only released the bike last month!
  6. I'm going to there warehouse on Saturday. I have checked and I can test ride the bike, along with the powacycle Salisbury, which was my other choice. They are reasonably local to me, so if anything were to go wrong I haven't got to post it back. Does anyone think the Salisbury is good electric bike? I am getting the bike to do a 7 mile round trip commute to work. The reason I want the electric is because the last mile coming home is a steep uphil gradient. The other bike I was considering was the Cyclamatic P Plus. Any comments? I don't want to spend more than £700.
  7. Anyone have any experience of this bike available from e bikes direct for £600? It seems very well specced for such a cheap bike.
