Hi Lynda Thanks But don't tel me tell D8veh your feelings about him coming back

I am sure he looks now and again

Frank

And there is absolutely NO justification to calling a fellow forum member a 'pompous prig '......EVER......

lets try to keep personal insults off this forum.....please ?

Lynda :)

I seem to have missed something here, and I read just about everything posted. I obviously do not know D8veh personally, and I only recently joined the forum. I can not help but notice that if someone has a problem, then D8veh is always the first, or among the first, to come up with knowlegable advice and help . Can we really afford to loose talent of this calibre? As with many internet forums, people do not always consider the full implications of what they are saying, and come out with stuff they would not dream of saying to a persons face. I have been on the receiving end several times myself.

To some extent I expect it because my views are often controversial, a fact of which I am proud. You sometimes have to rise above it, and put it behind you, even though you know it was unwarranted . I sometimes think that without Lynda acting as a Mother Figure, giving us virtual clouts round the earhole when we deserve it, the whole thing would fall apart. D8veh, please come back.

look on d8veh's profile ......

Lynda :)

I thought Dave dealt with that well himself and didn't need support. He's unhappy that nobody appeared to support him, I'm sure there was support, but members not wanting to fan the flames as often happens.

I've already posted elsewhere my regret at the news that Dave has left the forum and hope he reconsiders, especially as he is so highly regarded by such a high proportion of members.

If he doesn't come back, I'm going to start a, "Dirty Protest."

The wife is not yet aware of my intentions.

Well, Neptune, thats the first time I have been called a mother figure by an adult man :D (apart from my kids ) but I take it as a compliment, thankyou

I just cannot stand by and let people get away with personal insults....there is absolutely no excuse for it, we are all adults and should all try to behave in a civilised and polite manner .......but we have been here before......... :D

Lynda :)

Seems to me D8Veh is a top chap.

As others have said, this forum is only as good as the folk who post here.

D8Veh's knowledge and commitment to the sport/industry is beyond question, this forum would be much the poorer for his absence.

Please come back D8veh.

From memory, this is not the first time D8veh has left the forum in a fit of pique. He came back last time of his own volition and I'm sure he will return again if and when he feels like it.

Fortunately, there are quite a few other contributors here whose advice and guidance on electronic matters I respect so I doubt anyone will have a problem getting answers when an ebike problem crops up.

And from memory, its not the first time people have been banned for personal and rude remarks either.

This forum is very fortunate to have so many knowledgeable members ready to help others, but that doesnt in any way diminish the help and technical knowledge that d8veh has brought to the forum so I hope he does reconsider his decision.

He would definitely be missed, even though, personally, his knowledge goes over my non technical head I do read his posts and try to glean something from them.

Lynda :)

It's sad when Forumites fall out- I've seen it on other sites and it ain't pretty. Not seen it before on this one so was hoping it was exempt. All I will say is thanks D8veh for the advice you have given me in the past, I hope you will rise above this recent unpleasantness and return to the fold asap as I for one value your contributions to life's little problems.

AG

I will also say thanks to d8veh for the advice he has have given me in the past, I too hope he will rise above this recent unpleasantness and return to the fold asap. If you are looking in d8veh I for one will miss your assistance. I would not be riding the wonderful bike I have today if it was not for people like you on this forum.

Looks like this is all eddieo's fault, then. He can be a bit of an *rse at times, can't he? Whoops, I hope he doesn't take the hump at that remark and leave the forum (fat chance).

Seems to me that people need to be a bit more robust in their reaction to criticism.

Dont worry Roger, surely NO ONE could take offence at being called an 'rse'......I mean...its not even in the dictionary....mind you......tempting thought at times :D :D

Lynda :)

I would like D8veh back - one of the most helpful and knowledgeable posters on here with technical matters. His expertise and support are much valued.

With respect Bode, Eddie is an honest broker, a huge fan of ebikes and a big supporter of and contributor to this Pedelecs site. He, like many others who read these pages, is keen to hear reports on all of the legal bikes out there and appreciates the reviews we get from time to time from owners, satisfied or otherwise.

Perhaps like some others amongst us, Eddie doesn't suffer fools gladly and rails against pomposity, egotism and so on a little more vocally than forum etiquette demands, Eddie nevertheless is not responsible for the childish petulance displayed by D8veh. D8veh is a grown-up and is free to make his own decisions about what he does. Previously, he departed the forum when Flecc queried some statistics D8veh produced but everyone else understood there was no malice on Flecc's part. The stats just happened to be different from findings elsewhere but D8veh got the 'ump, as they say, at what he perceived as someone calling him a liar.

There appears to be a little bit of "ganging-up" on Eddie in all of this so I think before anyone else declares themself in the "Free D8veh; D8veh is innocent!" camp, they really ought to consider the petulant actions of the man in response to nothing very serious. If the man cannot accept being challenged or questioned on his position, as happens to most of us at one time or another, then perhaps he should give internet forums a wide berth.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm ambivalent on the matter but I don't like to see people being picked on and bullied, whoever they are.

Indalo

I sometimes wonder if this forum is full of 50+ year olds going on 12.

I can also see why there is a younger Client of forum users on endless sphere for the uk ebike scene. It seems to for go some of the ballshit that's on here.

It would be nice if we all just got along.

Keep calm and carry on.

but I don't like to see people being picked on and bullied, whoever they are.

Indalo

Well, I think we are all with you on that one.

But dont you think that personal insults are a form of bullying ?

No one is ganging up on anyone, we are all just making our thoughts known and trying to keep the peace and reinforce the need for politeness when we disagree with someones point of view, thats all.

Sometimes people can get a bit carried away in the heat of the moment, but a pause before posting never goes amiss.

Being polite isnt rocket science.... just good manners.

Lynda :)

He certainly does.

Hence the second part of my post.

I think he can take care of himself! Hence my ironic remark that he might take the hump and depart. But nice to see you sticking up for the downtrodden, Indalo.

d8veh, if you are still looking in at this forum I certainly am very sad to belatedly hear of this situation.

Like many others here I have often enjoyed your posts and helpful advice given freely to members and hope you might reconsider your position.

Mere abuse reflects badly more on the abuser than the intended victim, it is best to let vindictive comments wash over you - water off a ducks back - sticks and stones, etc.

Maybe you were a bit stressed out when you made your decision to leave the forum, please think of the many contributors who value your insightful opinions and when feeling more relaxed I hope to see you back posting here again and in better spirits.

Best wishes for what ever you decide to do, your loss is the forums loss.

Barry.

My, "Dirty Protest" appears to have failed to make Whosit return to the forum. I'm just going to have to switch the dishwasher on and forget about this line of protest.

However, I am still very keen to be a part of the emotional incontinence surrounding Whatsisface, so I think that I will try a candle lit vigil next. I've found some old tea-lights in the cupboard under the sink and I'll pick a few Daffs out of the garden. Once that's sorted I'll nip down to Pound Land and see if I can find a teddy-bear, then I'll be good to go. I would like to sit the teddy on something representative of an electric bicycle so that people passing by know what I am doing. I've got one of those big Smarty tubes left over from Christmas and thought that I might gaffer tape it to two saucers (cross-bar and two wheels). Next I will Sellotape a U2 battery to the Smarty tube, throw in a few wires, stick teddy on board and hey-presto, thingy on his bike!

Do you think we should release a charity single in his memory? What about Human League's, "Together in Electric Dreams"?
