April 6, 200818 yr I read with great interest the incredibly lengthy debate on this forum as to whether we should or should not actually wear cycle helmets, I'll keep my views on that issue for that post. My question is what is actually the best helmet? Obviously we need to define 'best'. Best looking, best protection, best value for money, coolest (temperature) or function? I would suggest 'What is the best overall?' and how do these modern BMX almost canoeist type fare up against the more traditional vented type, is it a case of the more you pay the better? Would be interested in views.
April 6, 200818 yr if its features you want for features, for general cycling, would go for one of these: Bell Metropolis Review | BikeRadar.com http://mos.bikeradar.com/images/bikes-and-gear/protection/helmet-standard/CYP208.helmets.bellmetro_prev-400-90.jpg includes rain cover, mirror and light...
April 6, 200818 yr best price i've found for the full kit. BELL 2008 METROPOLIS HELMET, RAIN COVER, MIRROR & REAR LIGHT also comes in matt black, but not as the complete kit deal.
April 6, 200818 yr or if you ever find yourself racing up alp duez in 35 degree heat (i have! and, trust me, the only thing you want on your head is cold water) then how about one of these: Giro Ionos Helmet for £116.99 | Giro Helmets - Performance | Cycle | Wiggle these different helmets are for very different purposes, so its all about what you plan to use it for really.
April 6, 200818 yr I got this font69 from this site, delivered. Its a great Helmet for the price at the moment. Giro Indicator Helmet Black / Pewter Its got a dial at the back of the helmet. Place the helmet on your head. Turn the dial at the back and it fits to your head perfectly.
April 6, 200818 yr Author So far TomB's Giro get my vote for looks. Im not sure whether the Bell with mirror, light , sauna, snooker table, hot tub and mini bar is a little bit 'geeky'???
April 6, 200818 yr i think the metropolis is quite a good look for utility/hybrid style bikes - which most pedelecs are. also weight and ventilation are also less of an issue, practicality and robustness being more important for this kind of bike riding? the matt black without the extras looks quite the part. http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/images/products/14506bell_l.jpg
April 6, 200818 yr i think he may have been the previous owner of item number 230239063516 on ebay, a sustain edison.
April 9, 200817 yr [Qstrong UOTE=TomB;23624]for features, for general cycling, would go for one of these: Bell Metropolis Review | BikeRadar.com http://mos.bikeradar.com/images/bikes-and-gear/protection/helmet-standard/CYP208.helmets.bellmetro_prev-400-90.jpg includes rain cover, mirror and light... I have one these helmets, the mirror is good but the rain cover is a pain, it doesn't have enough stretch in it. You need very strong fingers/wrists to get it on, I don't bother with the rain cover, but apart from this I am well satisfied. Derrick - Llanberis P.S. Don't buy the Reflexite Sam Brown Standard Belt : the main buckle is almost useless, it would satisfactory if they replaced it with a Fastex buckle, as a reflector I have no complaints.
