Girly bike!

Featured Replies

I was pleasantly amused in town this morning to see an elderly lady (though young at heart) ride past. Her bike tires were - wait for it - PINK!! I had no idea such things existed!

There is a bike on the market which is entirely pink Tony, except for some flower transfers on the frame. Possibly it was one of those. It's been road tested and is by all accounts a very good utility bike, not just a gimmick.

Coloured tyres have been available in just about every colour imaginable, since rubber is naturally translucent and can have any dye added. Our black ones are that way since carbon black is added to the compound. Coloured tyres for cars and bikes are mainly only available in the larger markets, for cars in the USA and for bikes in Europe.

What a source of learning you are, Flecc! I had no idea that tyres could be coloured in that way. Is the carbon black just for colouring or does is serve as a friction lowering agent as well? The pink bike sounds rather wonderful in a weird sort of way!!
