Hi,

I've been reading these forums for a little while now, and the information here is invaluable for a 'newbie' to pedelecs.

I'm pretty certain I am going for a pedelec as opposed to an ordinary bike for the following reasons;

-I'm over 60 (just)

-I'm all about the comfort, and hate lycra :-)

-My main exercise is walking, but it increasingly causes problems due to my flat feet.

-I want something that can exercise both cardio-vascular components and muscles (at a comfortable pace, of course ;-) ) - basically 'base building' or getting fitter overall while losing some weight.

I haven't been on a bike for 30 years, (apart from hiring one from an LBS to see if I could still ride, which just affirmed that while I could ride, a road bike wasn't comfortable for me.)

Since I am not commuting, don't have any deadlines to keep and still have the use of a car when I need it, my cycling is of the recreational variety - i.e for fun and some gentle exercise.

I will be starting a thread in the "What Electric bike" forum for any input on the type of bike I am thinking of, if anyone would be good enough to comment.

Again, thanks for all the info here, it has been a great help.

Shane,some questions..

What height are you

What weight are you

Is the area you are riding in flat or hilly

How long in miles would be your average bike ride

Will you ride on roads or bridle ways

What is your budget

Where is your location

Do you prefer a mountain style bike or a commuter style bike.

Sorry about the questions but it does help to focus on a particular style, type of bike.

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

I'll catch you on the other thread.

Thanks,

Shane
