July 28, 201411 yr Has anyone had any experience with Cycleguard Insurance? I'm investigating cycle insurance before I get an electric bike, and was confused by their definition of an e-bike: They state that an electric bike is: a bicycle which is powered both by human pedalling and/or a battery, any electric bike you wish to insure must not be subject to the requirements of the Road Traffic Act. Am I correct in thinking that their requirement regarding the Road Traffic Act effectively rules out any 250W bikes? I spoke to them on the phone but they wouldn't clarify if 250W is covered, only repeated what their website states. I've found other insurance companies specify 250W or under. Would welcome any thoughts. Thanks
July 28, 201411 yr Reading that literally, because of the doubt around whether a 250 watt bike is legal, and knowing just how insurance companies will do anything to escape their liabilities, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.
July 28, 201411 yr BEBA do ebike insurance. They'd probably be your best bet since they all sell 250w bikes.
