I bought a Spa Cycles one a little while ago. I've had Brooks in the past, before they became an aspirational brand and started pricing as one; and the only difference apart from being a third of the retail price is the lack of individuality which you get in a hand finished Brooks. The leather is as good and the finish is excellent.

 

Brooks stopped supplying Spa with their saddles when the Spa started selling well and getting good comments on forums. Quite a few copies of older leather saddles about now, but this one is good and not all are. Brookes weren't the only maker of traditional leather saddles of course. Just the most well known survivor.

Just fitted my new Brooks Flyer "Aged" saddle. First impressions: it's surprisingly comfortable! After hearing lots of horror stories and dark forebodings, I'm a little shocked to discover it's a hell of a lot more comfortable than the rock-hard lump of misery supplied as standard with my bike. Okay, it's not as comfy out of the box as my old Selle Royale gel saddle, but it's okay.

 

I applied the Proofhide to the underside as directed - apparently this hastens the "breaking in" process as well as helping to protect the leather.

I suppose it depends on whether you see yourself as a cyclist, still, (Brookes etc) or whether your electric bike is 'just' a means of transport.

 

OldTimer (Dave) recommended this one a few years ago:

Velo Webspring Coil Sprung Comfort Unisex Saddle, which is a tad under £20 from Amazon or Parkers of Bolton, and it's most definitely for the 'means of transport' brigade, such as me and him. But curiously, its design does make a nod towards traditional Brookes-type saddles, in that it has great big coil springs at the rear which become the saddle rails.

 

One benefit is that it takes about 14 seconds to break in.
