MXUS geared hub motor

Featured Replies

How much power can you run through a MXUS geared hub motor without it melting down?

I've looked on their official website (well I think it's the official one) and firstly it looks like they only do the one version of geared motor.

Secondly, they quote a power rating of 50w - 5000w, which I think is probably b****x:

I think d8veh has played around with these motors.

I ran mine at about 19A IIRC. I also tried 22A controller, but it didn't make a big difference. I also tries 12S at 19A, which gave more speed; however, the difference in torque wasn't as much as I expected and it did get a bit warm on long hills. I think 20A at 36V is probably the safe maximum and maybe 16A at 12S. It's already quite fast for its size, so I think 48V would be a waste of time.
