Fairly sure that a few more weeks on here will sort me out.

Is that another statement of your imminent departure from this thread?

Last time, you didn't stay away very long.....well, not long enough for me anyway!

Wouldn't life be more exciting if they mounted male connectors just like plug tops , with the live current available on the walls...

Indeed it would.......and for those who cannot afford 'Dignitas', it certainly offers a buzz on the way out!

Eskimos had over two hundred different words for snow, without which their conversation would probably have got very monotonous. So they would distinguish between thin snow and thick snow, light snow and heavy snow, sludgy snow, brittle snow, snow that came in flurries, snow that came in drifts, snow that came in on the bottom of your neighbor’s boots all over your nice clean igloo floor, the snows of winter, the snows of spring, the snows you remember from your childhood that were so much better than any of your modern snow, fine snow, feathery snow, hill snow, valley snow, snow that falls in the morning, snow that falls at night, snow that falls all of a sudden just when you were going out fishing, and snow that despite all your efforts to train them, the huskies have pissed on.

But it took Network Rail to find yet another type.

.

Does this give anyone a clue as to why the British establishment and their paid lackeys want out of the EU?

And by the way where does your aggresive , vindictive attitude leave your opinions of Tony Benn..a eurosceptic and socialist...Was he an idiot ??? Or perhaps Cameron is your hero ??

Just tone it down for goodness sake Tom.

Just a little reminder what the EU has always been about

So please, please no more corny arguments that we didn't know what we were getting into.

If you personally didn't know, then as the saying goes

"You should have gone to Specsavers"

Agreed, I've made exactly this point, but it didn't stop me knowing that what I voted for was for increasing union. As much as the politicians, the public were the problem through not taking any interest beyond their own little sphere. Surely even back then we knew that politicians routinely lie to get their own way, so what they say needs checking?

.

Daniel

Exactly right and why cant we use both systems when appropriate? Yes, obviously SI is easier for engineering ( but we didn't do badly with Whitworth/ AF etc)

Making people buy in undesired units is wrong.

Why is it some remainers ( not flecc/ Daniel) have taken brexit as an excuse to be so vindictive ? Perhaps Tom would like to offer his excuse ?

My spell check corrects to Daniel. ( sorry)

Don't worry about the Daniel bit... It is actually correct... My keyboard stuttered when I was enrolling. At my stage in life, I am all in favour of European standards, and so would you if you tried to do plumbing on old houses. There is a slight but important difference in the thickness of copper tubing and their olives ....( I much prefer to use compression fittings) for piping purchased in Ireland, in England .. including NI and France. ..and maybe different also in other countries. The wrong combinations will leak.

I am constantly reminded of the mars spacecraft which deployed it's chute 1 metre underground, because of a mismatch between subcontractors working in Imperial or US measurements and others in metric.

I won't speculate as to why people trade insults... Though in fairness you yourself are not behind the door. My tendency, with few exceptions is to play the ball not the man...

You're so lacking in discernible prick tendencies, you're actually a prick because it. Either a lying prick, or so annoying nice, it makes you an annoying prick. Sort your life out.

Don't for goodness sake change, that would reduce your entertainment value!

But we have eventually reached the final point, after being denied by politicians a voice on previous Treaty changes, of being unable to fool all of the people all of the time and the people have spoken - we are leaving the EU.

Which is just about the case for most parts of society.

I now prefer push fit...O rings etc...Done well they last for years, never leak and sections can be removed , without spanners and stressing pipes...no problems going copper to plastic...you must use the little aluminium inserts tho... Plumbers hate the stuff...its putting them out of business...

I,m still searching for my half inch metric spanner...

Actually having a few problems with an American foil system I,ve just bought...Head is tapped to accept what looks like m6 bolts...but they aren,t...some American thread...had to buy bolts from states.... American Gallons are quite an anomaly too...where on earth did they come from...???

Fear not, or at least as long as that malicious old fart remains spouting his rubbish and throwing insults.

American Gallons are quite an anomaly too...where on earth did they come from...???

Both gallons had their origin in the Winchester bushel centuries ago, but that was refined independently by both lands. The end result is that the US gallon is some 20% smaller than ours and they have different numbers of fluid ounces. Both have 32 gills per gallon, but the US gallon has 4 fluid ounces per gill, the Imperial gallon 5 fluid ounces per gill.

Leaks neither does the all copper system provided the matching pipes and olives are used. They are more to

Tolerant of the external fitting so one can easily buy 1/2 inch couplers and bends in France which mate happily with irish or .uk fittings ...provided the olives and pipes are correct.. . Reading this it sounds smutty....

I gave used the modern aluminium composite piping system on one circuit. It works fine provided good fittings are used... tends to work out more expensive. Piping cheaper fittings more expensive.. so only better when there are long runs of tubing.

That is true apparently. There are two alternatives. 1. They were really playing a very smart game of misdirection or 2 when the unexpected and unthinkable happened they found an upside... just as Henry 8th did.....

You left out - Initially press ganged by Heath then lied to by Wilson.

You mean the Public didn't check what they were getting into?

Now who's fault was that?

let me guess.... and now because it is convenient for you to do so you have decided in their absence they would have been against the idea?

Perhaps, contrary to your belief they were less gullible than modern people, actually checked the facts and approved?

But we have eventually reached the final point, after being denied by politicians a voice on previous Treaty changes, of being unable to fool all of the people all of the time and the people have spoken - we are leaving the EU.

Actually you mean Con men have convinced you that this was all a plot, and told you how bright you are to have woken up at last.

Tell me, since you could easily have checked the facts at that time, why didn't you?

or was it that you believe you are not now being conned, but you were back then?

How Gullible is that?

No it's just as Tom pointed out the EU had fingered their collective collars over Tax evasion Dodges so they wanted out before the blow fell on their necks.

I suspect that the population at large would have been informed at a much faster rate had that been the case?

Informed as in interred?
