August 4, 20169 yr Can anyone recommend a completely translucent but strong glue, to stick plastic to plastic. I'm reluctant to use super glue, as it tends to dry white sometimes. Plus it's pretty s**t at sticking anyway. Apart from fingers
August 4, 20169 yr Stixall clear is very good, but be aware that nothing will stick to polypropylene. I have been trying to seal a leak in my wheelie bin without success.
August 4, 20169 yr Stixall clear is very good, but be aware that nothing will stick to polypropylene. I have been trying to seal a leak in my wheelie bin without success. Welding with a hot soldering iron often works to seal such a problem. A hot enough hot air gun can also work. .
August 4, 20169 yr Aifix kits were polystyrene and the glue actually melted it and dried to a sort of weld.
August 5, 20169 yr Depends on the plastic..some have to be "ionised". Ie) just pass a flame over surface to be glued. On boards I often have to reattach/ renew plastic ( Acrylic) footstrap inserts into foam ( EPS) and epoxy/ carbon laminate. Without a doubt best I,ve found is uv resistant, clear ,low viscosity epoxy resin ( its on ebay) Only problem is 9hr set time.. You must identify the plastic.( some polyethylene) are almost impossible to bond and must be welded, but you can only do that to same material. I,d try one mentioned.(without a medium (ie carbon or gladd strand) it sets quite flexible. ( Its the working bit of araldite, but that has fillers) If you do use pure epoxy resin mix it exactly and thoroughly.
August 5, 20169 yr I use Plastex to fix motorcycle ABS plastic fairings - and discovered its the same product to fix dentures! > http://www.kemdent.co.uk/simplex-rapid-powder-clear-225g
