Battery problem on Cree T6 light query

Featured Replies

I have a Cree T6 XML XM-L Led 1800 lumens headlight /headtorch with a battery which has failed after not many charges. After not using the light over summer, I charged it up, and it was fine for about 10 minutes then died. It appears to charge upin only 45 minutes (red turns to green) But goes flat very quickly in use. Charger is

From reading this forum it appears that these cheap Cree lights come with poor quality batteries, however the light itself is good. THe battery is 4x cells in pink with no writing on at all. Should I replace the battery only, and if so with what?

If it's failed so quickly, I would raise this with the seller. I've reviewed a lot of the CREE LED torches and found they are generally very good but some of the supplied 18650 batteries can be questionable.

I'd contact the seller, via Amazon's messaging system if you purchased from there, and hope for a replacement.

To be honest its nearly 2 years old, and hasnt been used for lenthgy periods. Perhaps I haven't looked after it as well as I should, but no writing on the batteries doesn't impress me

I've reviewed a few of those too. They're quite good while they work, can become hot in use but the main feature I wasn't keen on was the separate battery pack in its polyester case. A couple of battery packs failed on me within the month; the rest have been fine. Another lamp wouldn't switch off without removing the batteries - quality can be variable!

How about this? Same colour battery as mine with Samsung written on. More reliable? These Cree lights all seem to have the same type of battery pack.

I'm warming towards a torch type that doesnt have a separate pack, and would be easy and quicker to use I imagine. What do you reckon?

That looks good and the battery appears genuine. Coincidentally, I was offered the single-lamp version of this to test this morning. (I didn't accept - I've reviewed so many that I'm bored with CREE LED and doing other product ranges at the moment.)

The batteries are dead cheap - almost cheaper than 4 Duracell AA batteries, so it's not exactly a big deal. Just buy another pack and your problem is sorted.

I've been lucky. I have about 4 of those packs, which are still working after up to three years. I've fixed a couple for other people where the wires broke off the BMS board.

Which one is the best value?
