September 28, 20169 yr Something for all you old moaners to get you off the depressing Brexit thread. Why do you think Sam Allardyce got the job in the first place? There were already a lot of rumours going round that he was linked to corruption. Surely that should have worked against him? It wasn't as if he had a spectacular record of achievement before his appointment. A sceptical person might say that he got the job because he was an expert in the field of extracting money from the system into the pockets of those in his old boys club. What does that say about the people that appointed him?
September 28, 20169 yr What does that say about the people that appointed him? Indeed, and what does it say about sport administration in general, the FA being only the latest to have doubts cast, and not for the first time We've only recently had the International Olympic Committee corruption revelations and the way it seemed the UCI must have known about the widespread drug abuse in sport cycling. Plus of course the widespread match fixing in so many sports. I sometimes think there's no such thing as a clean corruption free sport. .
September 28, 20169 yr I sometimes think there's no such thing as a clean corruption free sport. Yes, one becomes very cynical when massive sums of money change hands in sport and going off at a slight tangent, the recent news about Bradley Wiggins made me feel very uncomfortable. Having watched the interviews with both Wiggins and Brailsford, I am unconvinced by the story being put out and can only think that, were we hearing this from any other country, we would be screaming 'cheat'! After the damage done to the sport, particularly by Armstrong and the Americans with their medical teams, but not exclusively, the sport needs to be lily-white. That this matter has come to light now with most fans and the general population unaware of Wiggins' condition, really stinks. Tom
