Specialised Crosstrail conversion

Featured Replies

If you can get one, get the BPM1 instead of the BPM2. It has the easily removable side-plate in case you ever need to regrease the gears.

You'll also need a battery. The S12 S is about 26 amps, so you'll need one with a continuous discharge rate of 30 amps. You can try Eclipse Bikes for one of their batteries with the 30Q cells, but they're often out of stock. If they haven't got any, you'll need to go further afield. have a look at Em3ev.com and Lunacycle.com.

Hmm I'm confused with that one unless BMS are using the wrong pictures? The image they show looks like there is a screw off plate?

Would I be better with a controller from PSWPower? I tried to find one that matched the power of the motor without going OTT

As for the battery, I seem to be swaying to this route so would either wait for Eclipse or contact BGA

They not only post the wrong pictures, but they also post the wrong motors too. It would be best to make it clear to them that you want the BPM one, and hope that they know what it is.

Ugh, that I didn’t want to hear! Is there a supplier you recommend d8veh or do you go direct when your ordering ?

Feels like if your happy with a lower power setup, buy locally but if you want a specific spec they make you work for it. I think you mentioned MAC motors before but they seem to go off windings rather than rpm?

Reading through some more threads would a xiongda fit the bill? I assume that would be another alibaba purchase?

You buy Xiongda kits direct from Xiongda. The two-speed motor is excellent for heavy people. In low gear it gives immense torque like a winch. Once instaĺed, it would give you everything you want. The problem is the installation. The motor is quite wide, which makes it a bit more tricky to fit, so OK if you're good at that sort of thing, but not for first-timers, who want plug and play.

Xiongda also make a copy of the BPM motor - the YTW-05. Xiongda give the very best customer service and are relarively cheap. You should send an email to bonnie @xiongdamotor.com.cn. Tel her that you want"

Qty 1 48v 500w YTW-05 rear motor speed around 32km/h

Qty 1 KT controller

Qty 1 LCD

Qty 1 thumb throttle

Qty 1 PAS

You can ask if she has a suitable battery to go with it. I'm not sure whether they do batteries too. They will send you an invoice that you can pay with Paypal.

Don't expect delivery next week. Allow about 3 weeks from payment

I too have a Specialised Crosstrail for conversion, but want a smaller more lightweight conversion for it. I will start another thread on it, as do not want to hijack yours. Will be interested to see what you end up with and how it looks/performs.
