Anyone know the differences between these motors?

Featured Replies

Hi!

I'm wondering if anyone could tell me the differences between two Bafang motors, as I am probably gonna buy an ebike with one of them. I can't seem to find any information on them on their website. The two motors are:

BFSWX02 36V250W (14)

700C-1501162935

and

BFSWX02 36V (10)

28-1710105102-6

They are both rear hub motors.

The number in brackets is the winding code, this gives the amount of copper windings which will determine the maximum no load speed.

700c or 28 is the wheel size, can't see that there's any difference there. That being so they will have different top speeds. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly to say which is which.

700C and 28 are the same size (ISO 622).

For a Bafang 36V motor:

code 14: 215 RPM

code 10: 300 RPM.

If you want high derestricted speed then code 10 gives you faster speed, lower torque. There is no free lunch

If you want high torque then choose code 14.

BTW, 215 RPM on 700C x 40 tyres is 17.5mph

that does not mean you cannot pedal past 17.5mph, it only means that the assist will drop very quickly after 17.5mph.

for commuting, if you are a good pedaller, then code 10, if you have hills, then code 14.
