Getting reacquainted with ebikes after a lay off for my commute

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm after some recommendations. I have previously had a free go hawk which I ran for a couple of years.

I'm after a similar bike for my 13 mile each way commute. Mainly cycle path along the River Exe and a few gentle devon hills.

I have had a little look and the Volt Pulse and Wisper 905 look similar.

Any recommendations??

Also as always people want to derestrict etc but is there any bikes which are naturally a bit quicker, I've read about a 10% allowance and or I'm a bit put off by some bikes which after reaching 15.5mph are like riding through treacle after the motor cuts out and are lagged by the motor rather than just freewheeling without it. Does that make sense??

Mainly the reason I sold my last bike is I came off on ice twice in the same day, split my hardnutz helmet in two, buggered the bike, which was insured but it really knocked my confidence so wanted a good quality bike I will feel safe on again.

Thanks alot. Reece

Very few modern ebikes suffer from that. Sometimes the lack of assist is perceived as drag, especially if the assist cuts out too abruptly. And an ebike is generally heavier; that matters most for acceleration and hills, where the motor does help anyway.

Look at Woosh bikes as well. Big shortage generally of bikes/ebikes at the moment
