November 3, 20223 yr Have you heard of bookmarks? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bookmark They are mainly what recipients of information use to be able to return if required. And past posts are not much use when the links given die after a while and I cant edit to replace a link once 24 hours have passed from posting. Something that has afflicted my permanent comprehensive post on Pedelec law. . Edited November 3, 20223 yr by flecc
November 3, 20223 yr Frankly I'm appalled at how unreasonable your attitude is. You recently posted a video showing a car driver behaving entirely correctly in using a centre of the road right turn lane and clearly having seen you, stopping until you passed from the opposite direction before turning. Your utterly unreasonable spoken response was "I think he was drunk". Speaking for myself, it's important to slow down or stop, when it's clear a driver isn't going to stop, and as I said when I posted the video, he only stopped after I beeped, which you can hear in the video. And he looked drunk (or drugged) to me, grinning with a farway look in his eyes, which isn't visible in the video. He would have trundled slowly past too close in his small engined slow accelerating red car, or I would have collided with him at my original speed, and there was a car behind me. It was after 10pm, when there are many drunk drivers on the roads. When was the last time you cycled at night? It's much hairier between 8pm and midnight. November 3, 20223 yr I had a long conversation with a police officer this morning regarding the three drivers out of about 20 serious incidents and over 200 total incidents in my recent 5 day, 438 mile trip. There was some robust discussion to get agreement that it was reasonable to be reporting these few, and in the conversation came an explicit statement from the horse's mouth that the police are no longer in the business of issuing warnings. They are an enforcement organisation. A shame I feel, as resources are the biggest issue in policing, and most drivers I encounter only need a reminder of or introduction to the highway code changes to rejoin flecc's decent majority of motorists. The few I report however, left their ranks or were never there and cannot be left to repeat the danger they unnecessarily, calculatedly and deliberately inflicted on me every time they meet a cyclist on the road. I feel the protagonists in this thread both/all have valid view points, with some overlap but also like a Venn diagram, bits one has seen and the other(s) has(ve) not. Back to my tea and chocolate cake...
November 3, 20223 yr When was the last time you cycled at night? It's much hairier between 8pm and midnight. Through my whole life I've always avoided cycling after dark whenever possible. Our roads, their lighting, cycle lighting and even motor vehicle lighting have usually fallen far short of the task of truly safe passage for a cyclist. And as we age, the muscles controlling iris closure slow. That means intermittent brief pools of darkness after each instance of being dazzled, a potential real danger for a small object like a pedestrian or cyclist who could be hit unseen by an elderly driver in those moments. For that reason and as previously reported in here, I now will not drive after dark under any circumstance. .
November 3, 20223 yr As usual, last night's Panorama was too shor and fluffy. Quite a stark difference in standards to 10 years ago.
November 3, 20223 yr I had a long conversation with a police officer this morning regarding the three drivers out of about 20 serious incidents and over 200 total incidents in my recent 5 day, 438 mile trip. Have you recorded photos only? If so, many video editing programs can import photos as frames, to output at a X fps video. Such incidents should be made available, to widely be seen on Youtube imho. I'd certainly like to see them.
November 3, 20223 yr It's nice when a robust discussion can be had without certain people trying to attest prominence of some sort through posts citing forum rules, resorting to childish nameccalling, accusing other people of being trolls and bigots, or snide, or behaving in a "Disgusting" manner, or changing the subject, or indeed playing the victim or the age or illness cards, or suggesting they might leave the forum, all the while not providing any evidence for the numbers they so carelessly bandy about. Such attempts at controlling behaviour have no place in a discussion. Edited November 3, 20223 yr by I893469365902345609348566

Such incidents should be made available, to widely be seen on Youtube imho. I'd certainly like to see them. I have gradually evolved from time lapse so that I could keep a permanent record of my tours without taking over an entire data vault(!), via video 1080p and keep highlights only to buying a couple of 512Gb micro SD cards and trying to keep entire video until I get home and archive to a multi terabyte hard drive I have not even bought yet! I am still learning how to share video clips without selling my soul to big tech, or being swamped by ads as I try to work on my phone screen whilst on the road, and also finding more and more things that the GoPro app can do for me. I will share clips when I can, but not the drivers I have reported. I might put up stills of those if I can edit out the number plates. Are the two clips I put up earlier accessible, or being googleish do they only work for Google account logged in users?
November 3, 20223 yr Are the two clips I put up earlier accessible, or being googleish do they only work for Google account logged in users? Do you mean these below? I see them as photos, then a blank screen, and I'm not being asked to log in. Blank after loading in the browser because I have VLC's ActiveX component disabled, to avoid getting viruses embedded in videos through the browser. Download of the videos is allowed however, via the three dot dropdown menu on the top right. Those passes are too close, needlessly so and too fast imho. I see this foolish short-sighted driver behaviour all the time. I supposed if someone kills a cylist out in the middle or nowhere with few witnesses, carrying a shovel would be useful, to bury evidence with. It gets expensive having videos accessible to the world at large on your own server. Big tech is "Free" while they sell your soul. A bunch of cars, most fine, just one that can't quite manage to give the space that all the others managed. https://photos.app.goo.gl/NQAg9xB3kcJmi4kF6 Not so good. First the close passing white car, then the black Focus squeezing through against the opposing traffic. https://photos.app.goo.gl/spKtQAYLsfBxn6EE9
November 3, 20223 yr And past posts are not much use when the links given die after a while and I cant edit to replace a link once 24 hours have passed from posting. Sometimes links will disappear quickly, because the admin of the website linked to, doesn't want the extra traffic due to increased costs. Therefore save the page you want linked to, using the Wayback Machine. Thereafter the linked to information will be there for (allegedly) forever in the Internet Archive. Voila! Unfortunately both national and to a lesser extent local governments have a nasty habit of changing the links, so even where I still have the link it's dead. November 3, 20223 yr All the banging on about motor vehicles getting bigger - why don’t you lot get bigger , fit a side car instead of a trailer , then motorists won’t overtake on to another oncomming vehicle risking a head on …. O‘ and wear some hi is gear

If it's bookmarked, the bookmark in the browser may have keywords which may help your search. When you do find a replacement link, get the Wayback Machine to save it, and link to that saved page from whatever post you're updating. Downloaded. It's stupid to include your year of birth in your email address. We could all send him emails. Or someone could sign him up to thousands of spam messages a day with a single action ( ) With a large flat surface like that passing fast and close, you could be dragged into his wake. It's quite often that drivers misjudge my speed while they're overtaking ahead of obstacles or traffic, even though I'm travelling under 15.5mph.
November 3, 20223 yr Ok, sounds like that is not working video wise, so here are images at 0.25 second intervals of that van. More than a little bit naughty.
November 3, 20223 yr A sidecar is a fantastic idea, I'll get welding right away! But possibly illegal on pedelecs. Entirely legal, it simply becomes a tricycle pedelec with the same 250 watt, 15.5mph assist limits, There is no weight limit, those were scrapped on 6th April 2015. .

All posts are held in a database(s), which can be edited by someone with a high enough level of access. Live links would be useful for this forum's visitors. There's a strong case for co-operation, particularly as they're stickies. Edited November 4, 20223 yr by I893469365902345609348566
November 3, 20223 yr Maybe an admin could help edit the older posts? Yes they have already helped a couple of times. The site isn't continually monitored though so getting this done can be a hassle, I wouldn't want to attempt to keep all the links up to date in my over 51,000 posts! Longer term members trust me from past long experience when I post information. Demanding links is something that only happens with newer members like yourself. However, to be honest I'm finding this forum so dead now and increasingly unpleasant, I will probably do like so many already have and desert. I've plenty else to keep me busy and interested. .
November 3, 20223 yr https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-63492215 According the the survey that Panorama did; "one in three drivers think cyclists shouldn’t be on the road at all" "one in four admitted deliberately driving too close to them" So one might assume from that a minimum of 25% of drivers are not concerned about injuring cyclists. So nothing to worry about really. Edited November 4, 20223 yr by StuartsProjects
November 3, 20223 yr the owners should have sold this site long ago or at least changed the name as most ppl wont know what a pedelec even is but say ebike and most get what it is. tho over the last 15 years on all the other forums im on have just got smaller and smaller esp ones like hexus hard forums ect for computer stuff. but if the owners of the site dont know how to code and no mods either to sort out any problems i just cant see how they brake even on a site like this. just look at emtb forums they spam themselves with AdSense adds and force you to pay to get rid of them but a add block works just fine lol.

So nothing to worry about really. I'm sure you're more intelligent than this and realise why programs like Panorama exist. They deliberately stir up trouble to make them newsworthy. The cycling presenter opened the program by saying that the vast majority of drivers are decent and reasonable people. That being the case, how can 25% be not concerned about injuring cyclist? It's obviously a lie. I can believe a high proportion think cyclists should not be on the road, wishful thinking due to the inconvenience of bikes. But that is all it is, they know it will never happen, so the thought is harmless. I wish everyone else was off the roads so I could have them entirely to myself, as they largely were for me in the 1950s, but I accept them as they are. I don't for one moment believe one in four admitted deliberately driving too close to them. Another lie created by adding the word "deliberately", to create the impression that it was wilfully harmful rather than seen as necessary on our confined roads. .
November 3, 20223 yr https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/news/gloucester-news/teenage-girl-arrested-suspicion-attempted-7780312 its all going to shite round here 16 year old girls robbing shops at knife point and if you dare ride a bike and get ran over you will get stabbed as well. https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2022-09-22/cyclist-in-serious-condition-after-being-run-over-and-stabbed 25 years ago i could go up town on a Sunday on my race bike and not see anyone let alone any shops open not even supermarkets. msm and ceo corporations have now taken over and it is all about the money and our data just look at the Muppets we pay to run our country for them and not for us and there ceo masters profits that lobby them to make laws to get away with what they like. so why does the bbc not cover this fact, because it is not there agenda.
