February 1, 20251 yr A few years back I brought a swifty AT656 bike (PAS, no LCD display, no throttle, pretty basic), great bike worked well but the spokes are weak any way after a while a few broke and I could not find a shop to sort them (I was very new to the whole bike repair thing), anyway I gave up brought a new bike and put the swifty away, move forward 2 years, got my hands on a new controller, rear wheel and fitted it to the swifty, works with throttle now, so all good, now the swifty is my weekend\spare bike. So, now I feel a bit confident to fix the the original swifty rear wheel, got the spokes put them, got the rim back in to shape, now time to wire the old motor to the new controller, this is where I'm stuck, the old motor has 6 wires the new wire from the controller has 9, thought easy match the colours, nope all I get when I use the throttle is "info 03 " on the display. I had a read of old posts and checked around the web, tried different wire combinations, still can't get it work. I'm kinda at a loose end, I checked and double checked all the wires are joined, checked the motor is still fine by touching the phase wires together, short of seeing if I can change the PCB board in the motor to a 6 wire one not a 3 wire in there at the moment I don't know where to go next. Any help greatly received. Stuart
February 1, 20251 yr Pictures of the motor, in particular any engravings of markings, and of the connector might help. If it does not have a 9 pin connector it is probably unsensored i.e. there are no hall sensors. The controller will need to be able to operate in unsensored mode too. Post the info, someone will know what to do.

Any help greatly received. Stuart 6 wires is a sensorless motor, so you need a sensorless or dual mode controller. The three wires are probably 5v, ground and signal for a speed sensor; however, you didn't have an LCD, so could be for a temperature sensor. The only way to know is to power the red and black with 5v and check what happens on the third wire when you turn the wheel. A 5v pulse would be a speed sensor. Anything else would probably be a temperature sensor. Alternatively, you could open the motor to see what's inside. You only need to connect the three thick wires to a sensorless controller.
February 1, 20251 yr Author Awesome info people, many thanks, I will need to check what controller I have put in, I do have a KT LCD03 display, I know there is options in the menus, is there one to turn the controller in to a sensorless one if the controller supports it?

It depends which one you have. Look at the listing to see what it says. Also, with just the three motor phase wires connected, if it gives you the hall sensor error code, it's probably not sensorless. If it's a sinewave one, you're out.

Cheers, I did try with just the 3 wires and got the info 03 error, so I could be out of luck.
February 2, 20251 yr Author So this is the pcb in the motor, by the looks I can solder on the sensors, then replace the 6pin cable with a 9 pin cable and it should work.
February 2, 20251 yr Have a good look under the pcb, and look for pics of sensors in position. The hall sensors are normally located in slots in the winding underneath the pcb.
February 3, 20251 yr So this is the pcb in the motor, by the looks I can solder on the sensors, then replace the 6pin cable with a 9 pin cable and it should work. Just a warning because I've done it a few times. It's normally very difficult to get the new cable through the axle because it has to turn a tight angle to exit on the inside.
April 14Apr 14 Hi i have a swifty AT656 and the chain came off and has damaged a cable that comes out of the bottom of the down tube and is screwed on at crank behind sprocket .Can anyone tell me how to fix this .I'm in Ayr Scotland KA7 2XN7 This form will not allow me to attach pictures

Even if you want to replace it, you'll need to find out which of the two connectors it has and which way round it is - male or female.To put photos in a post, you simply copy and paste the photo from where you can see it as a picture. Show a picture of your whole bike, the control panel on the handlebars and the connector on the pedal sensor if you want more help.
