I have done a few conversions and serviced e-bikes

Featured Replies

Mostly Cytronex conversions, one Bafang (I am only going to ride it off road honest) and I have just finished setting up a used trike which had a Dillenger Street Legal kit fitted for a disabled client.

I was Alresford Mobile Cycle Repairs for 8 years. Lovely time during the pandemic. Serviced over 1,000 bicycles. Bought, serviced and resold several second hand bikes. Run the occassional cycle jumble and auction.

I retired towards the end of last year but I keep my hand in on friends, a few lovely previous clients and helping out two local charities when they have bike and mobility scooter things to be done.

Good Morning I wish to upgrade the battery on my etrike to maximise range the converstion hub is 36 volt the controller is 36/48 volt photo attached i also have an inline fuse what apmage would be best to protect the system from damage i would be gratefull of any help i realise with a more powerfull battery the battery mounting plate would requre changing

kind regards

A bigger battery cannot possibly harm your bike. It is just the fuel tank.

The bigger you go, the less the battery quality matters, but don't be tempted by the cheapest sellers. Use a supplier with a reputation. For example, Yosepower, Greenlance get good mentions here. There will be others.

Post details of the motor and existing battery if you want more detailed device.

good morning the motor is 36 volt the present battery is hailong 36 volt 10amp hrs downtube many thanks for your help

kind regards

Be aware that although the batteries look the same, there are different mounting plates and connectors. That shouldn't be too much of a problem for you because you have a separate controller, but you might get the problem that the plate mounting holes don't line up with your frame rivnuts so you have to drill and insert more of them.

whoops: forgot to post ~ mostly been said now

You should be able to replace it with a hailong 36v and much larger amps.

Beware, there are several Hailong connection pin arrangements (round or flat, and number of pins).,

if you want direct battery replacement make sure you get an exact replacement.

A larger capacity battery may have a slightly taller case. Check the height and that there will be room to fit it
