Rcb g6 actual speed display

Featured Replies

Hi all.

New here and new to electric cycles

Purchased an rcb g6 stepthrough coming from a traditional gazelle stepthrough normal bike and loved it but needed assist for commuting

Happy with the product but have an issue with the display only displays the speed upto the pas level so at pas3 the speedo caps out at 15.5mph so when peddling ive no idea what speed im doing and where I live they do stop cycles exceeding the 20mph road limit , i drive buses so cannot afford to risk having a ticket imposed

Anyone know of this is normal on cheaper bikes.

Ive contacted the company but its polish/Chinese and most responses are we do not help in removing the limiter which isn't what im after

Thanks for looking

Not a perfect answer, but you can get an accurate speed display by fitting a cheap cycle computer as well. I did that because my bike does not allow fine tuning of the wheel size, and was about 3% out which matters on long day rides.

Thanks didn't think of that

It does have an app link but I rather not attach my phone to the bars so was hoping there's an option .. talking of wheel size options ive yet to work out if mine will allow that feature as im sure its not even reading right .

Good tip thanks

Speed limits don't appy to cyclists, so they have no right to stop you. there is an offence of "wanton and furious cycling", but it only applies if someone was injured.

Interesting post .

Maybe that's what they are imposing where I live which then leads to a roadside bike check to ensure its not over the 15.5mph limit

Which on my bike the display as confirmed by the manufacturer doesn't read above 15.5 so now im off to find a way to increase to 20mph and the only way is to change the wheel size on the display but its all P numbers

Not after a speed queen but one of my returns is along side a dual carriageway and I'll like to pass that section a little bit sooner

I put one of those on my Argos folder. It cost about a fiver, was very easy to do, and it works perfectly.

The one and only criticism of mine is that the head unit is easily knocked forward from its plastic mount. I secured mine with a strip of insulating tape around the radial edge of the unit and mount.

Oh one of the old generic ones with magnetic sender units and simple dial with a watch battery

How long /hilly is the dual carriageway route Most hub drive bikes can be retrofitted with an unrestricted dual voltage controller and display but it might be a lot less hassle to fit a larger chainring so that the desired speeds fall within a comfortable cadence for you? if you let the motor deal with 0-15mph ???
