Noobie battery Question

Featured Replies

Please bear with me as I'm new to electric bikes though have experience of electric disability scooters. I'm currently looking for a secondhand step-through bike and my question is, If I were to buy a 24v bike that has lead

batteries how simple is it to upgrade to lighter lithium batteries? Obviously there is the physical fitting side and the charger but it's the controller side of things I don't know anything about, on my 'all-terrain' disabled buggy the controller was a total nightmare and required additional equipment to re-program.

My plan is to get a bike for the wife first of all then hopefully she'll let me have an Alien Aurora ( or build myself a step-through similar spe if I cannot physically get my leg over )

As long as the voltage is the same or very close, no modifications are necessary. Generally lithium battery replacements for 24 volt are 26 volt, for 36 volt are 37 volt, both are ok.

Powabyke offer lithium battery replacements for their lead acid bikes for example.

Wow, thanks for the really fast reply and I must say I have really enjoyed looking around your website, your trailer using cheapo ali stepladders is truly inspiring
Yes we can upgrade the battery from SLA to Lithium for you in the future - although I have to say that Lithium batteries are expensive!
