Just an update on this. (cant believe its 4 years ago!!) The battery is finally dead. Its a 36v 9ah li-ion. Tried to charge it the other day and it just wont charge. I also tried to shock the battery back to life but no joy. The bike and kit is holding up fine, although i dont use it often...

I too installed the 8Fun kit, and so far everything is working great! I have not installed the brake lever switches, as my gears and brakes share the same lever but i get on fine without it, i just switch to thumb throttle when i know I'm going to be wanting to brake and go through traffic etc...

Hi, i have that motor but with the 9ah 'water bottle' type battery which is good for about 14 miles.

I too tested this on the weekend. I now think that the power increases, not just the top speed! THere was definitely more torque at low speed on 'Hi' setting than low speed on the 'Lo' setting!

Pedalling will be the same, but the assist will cut out at a lower speed, 9mph i believe. Medium assist around 12mph and top assist around 15mph
