Fiido, known for their cheap and cheerful electric folding e-bikes seem to be going upmarket. The Fiido X has been slated for some time now as a new indiegogo funding campaign, but it's only just now that details are being released. Today, an article highlights some of the features. Apart from a choice of battery size, there seems to be some major advancement in electronics, notably, an electronic keypad for locking, hinted at GPS/location finding, and - given the lack of wires to the handlebar apart from brake lines, some kind of wireless communication/control? It's all backed with an obligatory App. Another first for Fiido are hydraulic brakes. The frame is cast Magnesium Alloy. And it's cheap. £650 (Fiido X Lite) to £800 (for the full-fat Fiido X version) for early bird backers. Even at full predicted retail of £1500 for the fully-loaded version, it looks to me like something of a gamechanger given the tech - relative to many upper-market e-bike folders.
