I am getting severe brake judder - front wheel.
Using small amounts of engine degreaser on the rim does the trick but the problem soon returns.
Do I need to realign the brake blocks, which seem not to be worn out, or would replacement cure this?
Should the brake blocks have a leading edge at the front?

There could be one of several reasons why this is happening.

The Powabike X24 is fitted with a threaded headset, any free play in the headstock bearings will cause front fork judder when braking. If you fancy checking and adjusting the headstock bearings yourself. This video will show you how.

Another thing to check is the spoke tension in the front wheel. If some of the spokes are loose it can result in judder when braking. Re-tensioning spokes is a specialised job which you might prefer to leave to a local bike shop.

Regarding the brake blocks. It is true that some brake blocks are better than others in respect to 'grabbing'. I don't really have any experience with the different compounds used in their manufacture, so it might be best to see if other forum members can give advice on that. If you would like to experiment with the alignment of the brake blocks there is an excellent guide HERE

If you prefer not to carry out any of the above, then I suggest you have the machined serviced by a Powabyke dealer. LIST OF POWABYKE DEALERS

Hope this is of help

You can also try angling the blocks slightly so the rear part touches first, just before the front or change the compund.
