Can I use a 36v battery on a 48v tsdz2

My 48 volt tsdz2 motor has arrived, the problem is my 48v battery has not.

I do have a 36v battery from my other bike, Can I use a 36v battery on the 48v tsdz2 ? just to try out the motor while waiting for 48 volt battery.
