Charging points in town

Somewhere I saw an article about charging points for electric bikes where it stated that the 'charger' automatically senses what kind of battery & charges accordingly. Now I can't find the article, unfortunately I saved it on my notebook which I can't get my hands on at the mo'
Does anyone know what I'm on about or has senility set in?

The one car park that I am familiar with is Canary Wharf, it has three charging points but I know without going there that you can't park a bike next to them.

I'd be too worried about security to chance it, then you'll get electric car owners who will take the supply out of your bike to plug their car in.
