hi I am Dylan and I live in Cornwall. Causal cycles to work. I am from Alaska and used to do some single track but today just recreational on roads. Interested in converting my wife's Dawes Discovery with an e-Bike kit from aliexpress or eBay. Something for less than £400 that will help cart her up the hills! And we have a toddler on rear of bike, so probably a front wheel. Any thoughts???

There's a good guide to handling marriage breakups available on Amazon. ☺

Avoid those cheap kits with 500w, 750w or 1000w direct drive motors. They're very heavy and not so suitable for normal cycling. They're better for fast commuting.

A geared hub motor is simplest/easiest conversion. I live in Wales and my Ezee hub handles all I ask it to do. These are not the cheapest but are reliable.
Have a look for BPM or CST motors.
