E-Bikeshop charge ahead with Gocycle G2 in the South of England

Hi Guys,

Very excited to take on the new Gocycle G2 electric bike. Saw one for the first time when we were exhibiting Haibike at Dave's Redbridge event a few years back. They have played on my mind ever since!

Director of e-bikeshop Martin Brown says:
We are excited to be working alongside Gocycle to promote these eBikes in the UK. Afterall it is a British design, designed in London by an ex Formula One engineer! At present we are extremely successful with the eMTB, Trekking & Road electric bikes that we already offer, however we have been searching for a while for something that fits alongside our current full sized eBike range, as a stowable bike that can be stored when not in use. This is where the Gocycle fits perfectly (excuse the pun!).
Full article here.

We are taking the brand on a pretty big scale, we already have in stock all accessory packs and large stocks of Gocycle G2 eBikes in every colour option. Our workshop technicians are also being trained on the Gocycle electric bikes and specialist equipment being held on site to fully support the products.

Managed to borrow a Gocycle bike off them for a couple of weeks to have a play on. It was the strangest feeling ever. I am so used to having dual gear levers, display buttons, assist modes etc to play with out on the ride.

What striked me as so different on the Gocycle was the fact that you could literally just get on and ride! Couldn't be more easy than that. I see this as the perfect companion to people who own boats, motorhomes, small cars or use in the city.

So far my impressions working with the company have been great. Very efficient indeed, something not always found in the cycling industry. Then again their background is in Formula 1 design and engineering, so I should have expected an efficient service!

See the full Gocycle G2 spec here.

I know some of you had already tried these at Redbridge & at various other events too, so hopefully you'll have the same experience!

Regards
Martin

Brave move Martin, I hope it proves successful for you.

If it is, it will be a new cycling market opening up, rather than the usual expansion of the existing one, no bad thing of course.

To some extent you'll need to do some parallel thinking on how to publicise and where to show them to fully reach that new market.

Agreed Flecc, I think it doesn't just hit cyclists like many other eBikes, it appeals to commuters, hobbyists (boats, caravans, motorhomes) etc & of course the 'Boys Toys' kinda guy :)

The product is in constant development, some new cool features all the time. The fact that the user can remotely update their Gocycle to incorporate these is unique, did you see the traction control setting that could be applied when we had that last dump of snow?

That's a company who thinks ahead!

I think that they'll create their own market. They'd sell really well if the price was a bit lower. Hopefully that will come when the sales volume increases. They deserve to do well. They're the best designed ebike by far.

It will probably look cheap when/if a factory Brompton ebike appears.

In what sense of cheap Rob? ;)

The OED gives four meanings, including good value and showy but worthless!

Oh dear, I feel another temptation sneaking up on me.

It's the need for a dam phone that just might save me.

You could part-ex the Birdy.

Do it on the quiet and Mrs C will think you still have only three bikes.

We need a race to sort out which one's the best. I think the Gocycle will win.

When this unique machine was first launched, I thought it would sell well, particularly amongst the well-heeled as a 'big boy's toy'. It never really took off on the scale I imagined and very few forum members own one - unless I'm very much mistaken.

Just about everybody said they were brilliant, a mould-breaking Ebike that we'd all love. Fast-forward to the latest model and I'm not sure that the situation has changed much. Yes, it's still brilliant, still innovative, not closely copied but I can't see there being much change in the demographic of likely owners.

Now, I know how well the earlier model performed around the track at Redbridge and I'm sure this new model will perform even better but I can't see a whole new market opening up because of the clever technology employed. The price is against it for a start and always has been. While I admire the way the designer has improved an already groundbreaking machine, curiously - and I suspect I'm not alone in this - I don't want one.

If the makers expect to hit big sales targets with this lovely bike, I think they may have mis-read the market. Time will tell.

I looked at that bike a while back and will buy one in a heartbeat - as soon as I win the lotto...

Fits my program perfectly: fold it, put in its bag and take it on the bus down to the Topo station then on the train down into Spain. Last train back to Hendaye and whip it out for the 11km ride back home.

Problems: mudguards, kickstand and lights are not accessories, they are normal equipment for riding where it rains often and the ride home is in the dark. Lock and travel bag are accessories.

Other than that a 7-8 speed gear hub might come in handy the day the battery dies - did I mention the hills?

Good luck on your venture and your web site is really nice, one of the easisest to navigate. Did I mention that I have been building web sites since 1994? :D

Off topic warning!

The first site I built for money drew 1.5 million readers in 15 days, in 1995!

Over twenty years!

When do you think one will be completed? :D

This did make me chuckle on this dull Monday morning, thanks Flecc!

Thanks for the feedback!
We spend a huge amount of time evolving the site, so to hear this is great.
