Giant Lafree problems

Hi Tony, I meant that the chain had been on for 3000 miles. The chainwheel has done about 18,000!

I am not impressed by the bike shop not spotting the missing roller though.

Bike is back together, but the chain is jumping on the rear sprocket even worse than it did before. I have not yet replaced the sprocket yet as it has has not arrived. Existing sprocket is well knackered though.

Is this likely to be the sprocket or insufficent/too much tension?

The sprocket almost certainly. A new chain runs badly even on slightly used sprockets, so it will jump on a badly worn one. Best not to run like that or it will damage the new chain.

Will stay off it then until the sprocket arrives. Had to order by post as could not find a bike shop that stocked it. Hopefully get the chainring in the next few days as well.
