There's some interesting pdf's on this site, of particular interest are the Panasonic brochure with details of their homegrown offerings both powered and unpowered, the Sanyo e-bike brochure, the Bridgestone brochure showing details of it's belt drive bicycles and the brochure from Otec Research with unusual unpowered drive systems.

Thanks Ian, nice find. That Sanyo hub motor is the not very good ex US design that's used in the Giant New Twist bike with a regenerative feature that doesn't appear to work too well.
