New to Pedelecs - Shipping E-Bike Internationally

Greeting. I'm a pedelec rider for 5 years now and just discovered this site. I use my bike daily for errands and am looking to purchase an e-gravel pedelec.

I'm making a trip back to the US for an extended summer holiday and want to investigate shipping my e-bike. My preliminary investigations have been wildly erratic with quotes for ocean shipping well beyond the value of the bike. Does anyone have any experience or advice to offer? Thank you.

Unless it is a cycling tour, and a bespoke bike for that purpose, probably not worth the effort. Hire locally if you just need a few day rides. The battery cannot fly with you on a passenger plane even if you can get the bike packed as baggage.

Some airlines allow the Grin Ligo approach to batteries, but they are not obliged to.

Thank you Matthew - international transport of e-bikes is fraught with issues and cost. But discovered transport within the US by ground is doable. At any rate, I've found a local shop and will hire locally. Cheers.

Cheaper to sell it, then buy another one in USA.
