Operation Manual?

We have recently purchased an F4W Ride and an F4W Peak and were informed by the dealer that they did not come with an operation manual.

Is this common practice in the electric bike world?

And is there a manual available from another source apart from the manufactured/dealer?

No. 99% of bikes come with an owner manual.

F4W bikes are sold by heroeco.com
They don't seem active in the last two years.

Although most come with a manual, the quality and scope of information in them often leaves much to be desired, so you may not be missing too much. One manual I got with a new e-bike said I should not ride it in the rain! What sort of advice is that for a bike exported into England!

Your e-bike components are standard and very familiar to many in here, so this forum is a good place to ask any specific questions which might crop up.

And maintenence of the bicycle side is well covered, both on the web and in here.
