Hope you can help me make an important decision and answer a newbies questions.

4 years ago I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer - it had spread to the base of my spine compressing my spinal cord and effectively paralysing me from the waist down for six months, until the treatment started working.

Consequently it has left me with a slight weakness in the legs (loss of muscle tone coupled with a bit of arthritis) - thus I cannot walk more than 100 metres without feeling tired.

I am 72 years old and don't want to spend more than £1,000

So, to my questions.

1. I have read that cycling can raise the PSA levels in the blood - I have twice yearly PSA tests to determine if the cancer is at bay - does anyone have any experience of this?

2. Will the light exercise using an electric bike help with my arthritis and prostate cancer?

3. I am considering a Samebike LO26, can you tell me, can you combine the pedal assist with throttle control or is each mode independent?

4. I don't intend riding mountain trails, this is just to get me out of my chair, into the fresh air and ride railway bike trails. Will this machine stand up to my 18 stone weight?

Any info gratefully received
