Daylight is much improved, so spring can't be far away, even at 56° north! Time to put my bike back in road-going order.

Part 1. Drivetrain.

On paper at RRP, Shimano 11 speed, even my M5100 lowly stuff, is quite expensive. But by keeping my eyes open, opportunistic buying, a bit of luck, I am just replacing my entire drivetrain with new for quite a modest total.

Cassette 11-51T, cosmetically imperfect on the back of the spider, but less than 200 miles old: £27, ebay.
Chains, SRAM PC1110 114 link, unplated: online bike shop, can't remember which, £5.99. With extra 8 links from my spares chain, total £6.50.
Chainring, slightly secondhand, Ebay, £18.
Derailleur M5100 long cage, £30 in online bike shop sale a year ago.
M5100 shifter, £6, chain reaction sale quite recently. Wrong mount type, but they are interchangeable. Comes with new inner cable.
Outer cable, came with first M5100 shifter, not needed until now, so £0.

Everything as good as new, £87.50.
Ongoing... I bought a few of those chains, obviously!, and another spare shifter.

Coming soon... pictures of my old drivetrain, to make some grown men weep...

For now, here is my new cassette and standard 114 link chain in 13T top but 1 gear.

And from a different angle.

Needs more links. I added 10 as it looked so short. Here in bottom 51T gear at 124 links.

And in 11T top gear.

A couple too many, to be removed during phase 2.

You forgot to mend the broken spoke shown slightly left of bottom in the last photo and 9 o'clock in the one before. Also, something not right with your rim in the other pic. Is that where the spoke has broken out?

Phase 2: I had a slide on black ice which bent derailleur hanger and cage, which a couple of days later resulted in cage in spokes. I thought that had broken a spoke until I saw the bike in daylight, when I saw it had actually pulled through the rim. A close look showed many cracks around spoke holes. So a new rim awaits, together with new spokes.
