this is the leds in them.
http://www.cree.com/LED-Components-and-Modules/Products/XLamp/Discrete-Directional/XLamp-XML

but as you can see the driver in the light will not match those specs for the leds lm output quoted in the spec.

because if it did it would get so hot so fast and just go bang as thats 6a at 20w for two of them.

you can have my light when my new one turns up ;)
Thanks for the offer. What is it exactly? I will buy it from you if it's what I want.. although you would do better keeping it as a spare
. Just in case your new one either pops or doesn't work as expected.

I had looked at one of those but had decided on a two led light to make the battery go a bit longer. I have the original battery and a new one will come with another battery giving me a spare..
Was looking at this one which I can get next day on prime.

light came today ;)

max power

half power

strobe

so it has 11 10w leds in it but its no where near stated light output for the power its drawing from the batt.

there is no way this light is 28000 lm its not pulling no where near enough power.

my old light used 1.2a on max and this one is 2.3a on max with 8 more leds in it lol:rolleyes:

it is brighter but not buy much id say but will test it when its dark and see how it throws the light out ;)

If you look at the voltage, it's sagging drastically at full power. I think you need to get some decent cells. They shouldn't sag much at only 2.3A. 6.2v means 25% sag!

If the LEDs are T6s, I would have expected at least 10 amps at full power. It could be that the cells have maxed out on their ability to provide current.

Even if comparing the best and worst LEDs on the market, efficiency doesn't vary that much between them, so power consumption is a reasonable indication of light output. At around 16W power consumption, that is majorly disappointing. Just goes to show that more isn't always better.

that meter can be out by 2% tho but tbh doubt it will make much difference.

its like buying a bag of crack and finding out its mostly flour

There's a two things that don't add up. Firstly, the sag should only be about 0.3v at that current. Secondly, we know that a single T6 takes about 1A, so 11 should take 11A. The wires between the battery and light would melt at 10 amps. They look good for about 3 amps. It could be their resistance that is cutting down the voltage and preventing the current. Can you get a voltage reading directly on the battery pack while it's under load?

Also, try plugging in the light directly to the battery to see if it goes brighter.

The light needs to be on with full power while you measure the battery voltage at the battery.

Do the simple things first: Just plug the light in directly to the battery without the meter, switch, extra wire and whatever else you have to see if it goes brighter.

the light is no brighter from the pack direct.
