Do people actually ride the bikes they put these rims on?

Awesome craftsmanship but I just wouldn't trust wooden rims on the roads I ride on!

Amazing....now got the urge to put on some tweed, plus fours and buy Pashley Guv'nor and deck it out with wood rims and mudguards... :D thanks for the link Jerry

I did like that - I am sure they are serviceable. I used to make furniture with a partner, many years ago, and we used to joke about the things we would like to make in wood - computers, keyboards, telephones etc. - a lot of them are now made. It is such a great material.

What a great video, i particularly liked it because i do wood turning.
I wish i could ask him lots of tech questions like, what type of wood, is it sectional, one bent piece joined, or (highly unlikely) turned from one piece of timber, how is it seasoned etc.
Health & Safety here would have kittens with his machinery, but i would love to have a go at making a couple of wheels under his guidance.

Many years ago I used to work with an old guy that did road racing in the 50's and he told me they used to have bamboo wheels for lightness !
