You are a funny little man.

    Hi all

Once again, the thread is hijacked by whatever stream of consciousness is in one of the regular's heads. The OP leaves, never to come back. And so the forum trundles on towards irrelevance.

    Protecting your ebike investment

Mine doesn't look like an eBike unless you pay attention - a throwover pannier covers the battery, and it doesn't have a dinnerplate sized hub. It's also locked with a motorbike D-lock, but if it goes it goes. I take the battery with me if I'm parking somewhere shady, which puts off most as...

He's posted nothing of relevance here at all. Not in this thread anyway. For the purpose of his entertainment, the whole thread is full of utter shite. You might find some useful information, but it's really hard to do so and most won't bother. The OP who wanted to get a question about ebikes...

Soundwave has offered no advice on eBikes in this thread. All we have received in this thread is inane nonsense where he's shown us pictures of his knuckledusters, called everyone who disagreed with him a retard, made a veiled threat about putting me in traction and boasting about how he got...

I don't think he is actually. He's one of the reasons this forum is dying on its arse, and the vast majority of the people who come here never return. The problem with him and quite a few other regulars on this forum is it becomes hard to find sensible advice, because they post gibberish for...

Well, I can't find a picture of you with that knife outside of your bedroom, or one where you're man enough to show us your face, so I won't worry too much about you coming to beat me up or riding your bike faster than I can. So forgive me if I don't lose too much sleep. Everyone knows you'd...

What makes you think I would want to join a club where you're a member? ;)

https://www.cyclinguk.org/local-groups Certainly, all my local cycling clubs are CTC affilliates and you can't ride without joining. If all you have left is name-calling, I'm out of this conversation.

Third party insurance is a requirement for pretty much all cycling clubs these days. I know it is included with a CTC membership, and by extension any affiliated club.. Your vehicle is a liability on cycle paths, and too slow to mix with motorised traffic. I reckon it's the worst of both worlds.

Just a small point to clarify things. If you are riding an unregistered, unlicensed motorcycle (which is what your conversion is), there is no possibility of you being insured. If you cause an accident and get sued, there is no payout and the solicitor/insurers will come after you. Fine if...

Yes, but if you can go on them at motorbike speeds that's not really fair to other people that only go at bike speeds or pedestrians, is it? Frankly, if you want to ride at 20+mph on a footpath, I am all for your bike being impounded.

Gears for higher powered conversion question

I would suggest that not doing gearchanges while using all that power would be best. Power off, shift, power on. I'm also surprised, though. As @Nealh said, it's not the side of the drivetrain that is under tension and a bent cage would suggest impact damage. I suppose the best solution would...
