That Ebike is doing over 60 mph while stopped . Just think how fast it would go if you pedal it ! I want one to join my 100 mph 1982 Suzuki X7 in my shed . The X7 gets a bit `flighty` at over 70 mph so this Ebike could solve my problem .

Not sure about the severe consequences of riding an illegal Ebike , people murder and get less than that , others get let off jail after killing other road users . Rather than smash up perfectly good rideable machines why not give advice or assistance in making them Legal ?

Retailers and Cycling Bodies are expressing concern at plans to limit the value of eligible bikes by re-introducing a cap on tax saving purchases . Dan Parsons of the Retailer` Fully Charged` is especially upset at the prospect . He is worried that if the cap is set at £2000 he would lose a lot of his business . Apparently he doesn`t stock ebikes at £2000 or below and says that there are no good electric bikes out there under £2000 . Wisper and Woosh to name just two might have differing views on that ! My Brother and I have `cheap` Ebikes between us varying from 2 years to 15 years old and they have been excellent . A 13 year old Woosh has just had it`s first replacement battery and like my 15 year old Batribike is still going strong after a recell years ago by Jimmy . I have just looked at the` Fully Charged `site and must admit that I find the prices eye watering , no wonder that some are discounted by £900 . Others in the Trade express view that the cheaper Ebikes and Bike Conversions are going to increase the battery fire issue . No encouragement for potential purchasers there then .

Must have had an Italian tuned Speedometer like on my 2003 Aprilia Leonardo 250 Scooter . Appears to be about 10 mph out and you can`t see it as the MPH Scale has green numbers on a black background .

Just watched a Police Officer showing a BBC Wales Reporter one of the illegal Ebikes that could do 80 mph . The rear motor was the size of a dinner plate and he lifted the rear wheel up and used the throttle to show the speed on the bike speedo . I wonder what speed that would equate to when under load ?

The Officer doing the chasing seems to have given an inaccurate version of events verging on the untruthful apparently and that is why he could face a misconduct inquiry . Their deaths were a result of crashing into a lamp post .

EcoMove Bristol at Hotwells advertise an extensive range of Ebikes . Their Sale at the end of last month stated `Try before you buy `. They advertise the ADO 28 for £1199 . If you live in the Bath/Bristol Area you could call in and strike a Bargain . Ebike Sales in the UK are the worst in Europe , bottom of the table of 30 Countries . Reasons cited are no incentives from the Government , too expensive , lousy weather for Cycling . I could add , thieves targetting Ebikes , Cyclists not liked by a lot of Motorists , lack of safe cycle paths . Good luck in your quest .

After finding the ones clamped to bars tend to get in the way storing or coming loose , I find the one attached to the wrist with Velcro to be the best . Handy if you have several bikes as your wrist stays with you .

Far simpler and cheaper to issue them with broom handles .

Well done Raleighguy , luckily I made the same decision at 70 which enables me to ride 52 mile round trips in a day at 86 years of age . If it wasn`t for Ebikes I certainly wouldn`t be riding bikes now , only on my Motorcycles .

As it will be your first foray into Ebikes B Ikeman why are you considering faffing about with Kits ? Why not get one already built ? The amount you are prepared to spend is at the top end of Budget . Better to purchase a cheaper bike , get used to it and then you will have the knowledge , experience and money to make a more informed choice . Look at the Ebikes on offer from Woosh and Wisper at the £1,000 price point and the cheaper ones starting at £600 from OneSport which are Chinese with UK and European Warehouses . OneSport supply throttles should you want to go off-road and they have some nice Customer Videos testing their machines in the UK . Their batteries will give long range too !
