Help! New e-bike for 16 mile commute

I'd argue that neither is ideal, as they both fail to provide vertical rear support for deep panniers such as Ortlieb Rollers. I had the same issue with the rear rack on my, otherwise brilliant, Cube Kathmandu.

    YosePower eBay kit

The main issue with the rivnut was that the bloke doing that bit was clueless. The first one just twisted round in the frame and was too small anyway. The second attempt needed a couple of goes to get it fast in the frame, but it was fine after that. One minor point was that the Dawes had...

    YosePower eBay kit

Last weekend I converted a Dawes step-thru bike using a £420 YosePower kit. It was a comprehensive kit, including a front light and an enclosed BB sensor, rather than the magnetic disk type. Due to frame limitations, it came with a rear rack-mounted battery. All in all, it was a simple...

    Haibike Fullseven 4

A while ago I upped the gearing on my Haibike by fitting a 42t front chainring. It's a partial success, but I'm going to revert back to standard, I'm afraid. There's a chain guide on the 38t set up that was in the way on the new 'ring, so it had to go. However, it obviously served a purpose, as...

    Oxygen restoration

Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on it, but first I'd need to retrieve the bike and see exactly what needs replacing. Hopefully the connectors will all be compatible with your kits'.

    Oxygen restoration

The motor is/was fine and it's been dry-stored. I think it's a SWX2. It's ostensibly an MTB, but I have a Haibike Fullseven 4 that more than amply fulfills that role, so the Oxygen would be a runaround.

    Oxygen restoration

It's the bike in this thread: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/oxygen-e-mate-mtb13ah.21767/page-3#post-375828 I'm the poster, but lost my login credentials and has to get a new ID. The battery is the trapezium one...

    Oxygen restoration

I've got an Oxygen MTB that's sitting gathering dust because the electrics gave up the ghost. The motor is fine and the bike was thoroughly serviced before it packed up. It'll need the entire electric system replacing, including the battery. What does the panel recommend? I won't replace with...

Help! Frame battery without bottle cage screw holes

Right, here's a picture of the bike. The frame is very elliptical, which might be why Dawes didn't provide screw holes. Thanks for the suggestions of alternatives. The straps would probably hold a bottle & holder in place, but may not be beefy enough for a heavy battery.

Help! Frame battery without bottle cage screw holes

Hmm, M6 rivnuts mean drilling 9mm holes into the frame. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with that. 4 x M3 would work. Thanks everyone for chipping in.

Help! Frame battery without bottle cage screw holes

Thanks. Being fairly (totally!) ignorant of such things, it seems an M3 rivnut can be fitted with a pop rivet gun. Would a couple of M3 bolts be beefy enough to hold a 13ah battery, holder and controller in place?

Help! Frame battery without bottle cage screw holes

I'm helping a mate convert his wife's bike. It's half decent and worth converting, but it has no bottle cage screw holes on its step-through frame. I'm trying to avoid a rack-mounted battery, as it already has a rack. Is there a solution that will safely allow me to mount a 13ah battery on an...

    Spare Wheels for my Haibike

So, not only was my front wheel too narrow, but when I went to fit the rear one, it was 142mm, not 148. Cue the ordering of another adapter. If there's a silver lining, it's that i was reminded to buy an axle, as I've stripped the bolt hole on mine.

    Spare Wheels for my Haibike

I realised the other day that my commuter tyres weren't up to the job of keeping me stable on slippery bridleways and towpaths. I felt distinctly unsafe in places. The Fullseven 4 came with knobblies, but I replaced them for smoother treaded ones, as most of my route is on roads. I can't be...
