  1. Just out of interest. Who carries a tool kit with them on the bike and what do you carry? I carry a 4,5 and 6mm allen key. Small adjustable spanner. Stumpy PZ2 and slot screwdriver Flat bike spanner that I've never used but must be 30 years old Pliers. All in an old pencil case in the back rack bag.
  2. Well they both slipped so I filled the petal edges of the star washer a bit sharper and sanded the inside of tube.Knocked it in again and it's worked. Result. Never fitted one before and like anything you puzzle a bit with how it all works.
  3. Update. I've got a set of forks although steerer tube is about 10mm too long. Rather than cut I'm thinking about buying a packer as I already have a fork extender on because I like handlebars high. I'm thinking about that now. I think I know someone with a tube cutter I could borrow.Anyway, that's not my problem. I can't get the star nut to stay inside steerer tube? I have the kit to install it but it pulls straight out when I install forks. I bought a second star nut and that pulls out as well. I don't understand how it says in? Maybe if I rough up the smooth surface inside tube? Anyone had a similar problem? Thanks
  4. Have you watched YouTube demos. I have that display and I have menu one. Then there is a second menu. Can't say I remember how it works but I just followed along as easy enough. Maybe go look at that
  5. Just for interest. My front forks weren't working great so I decided to take apart and lube up. Oh dear... I think these are toast... I have a cheap set of buckloos forks I could use that cost £50. Maybe something better is recommended as I want some that will do the job and last, or just stick the cheap set on? Any thoughts. Thanks
  6. @guerney Water flosser helps disabled people by washing out food but that's where the usefulness ends. After talking to hygienist I chucked mine in the bin. Use brush sticks. I start with big and if it don't fit gap move to next gap, then when finished move to a smaller one and repeat trying in gaps. Plaqueis is sticky like jam. You cant wash it off with a water flosser.
  7. How do you see all the latest post. Used to click new posts. no option for that I can see?
  8. I've just gone to see if I can straighten wheel and noticed a spoke broken. That's the second one on this rubbish wheel.
  9. Any recommendations for a rear 26 inch wheel? 6 speed freewheel with rim brakes. Nuts not quick release would be my choice. Halfords have a single walled wheel for £20 or am better buying a double-wall rim? My current double walled is rubbish. I paid £40 but I'm not impressed as it's all out of shape again after I straightened it. I just want to swap it and be done. Thanks
  10. The arms were not long enough to reach over mudguard with the m600. I'm going to sell them.
  11. I've also discovered that you can swap out the V-brake spring adjustment screws. I have a cheap set on allen bolts and found one that fits. I always seem to mingle adjustment screw. This is so much better. I think it's a M4 16mm long bolt..
  12. I had a set of Shimano M600 kicking around so I swapped the back set but the arms are too short. Dam it. I also had another a set ofTektro V-brakes. They fit so just put them on. Seems better...
  13. I bought this bike rack off eBay for £22 and I'm not impressed. I don't like the way it leans to one side and the weight is on spokes bending them a bit. I'm going to modify this week but for now I'll jam some wood in to hold wheels without risking a bust spoke. I'll update with my modifications although today its brake and lock upgrade and service. Oh the red thing is a bungee holding pannier bag out the way for access to brakes, just incase you were wondering. It's not a power cable. Ha
